Kate's Log

Re: Kate's Log

No not super skinny at all. I lost 10 pounds and felt my clothes getting a little breathing room, but after a bad weekend i think I may have stopped the whole process! Is that what happens? I mean if you have a piece of bread and a little apple crisp does your body then turn into a carb burning machine again? Would I have to do induction all over from the beginning? What do you think?

Nope- you don't need to start induction all over again. When you cheat it does stop the process a little bit.. but it depends on your body. When I cheat I'm in ketosis the next morning. But that's me. Saying that however... I still get a stall when I lose. What I suggest is to just slam down the water. Maybe like 3 or 4 extra glasses the day after a cheat and keep your carb count low... that way you can flush all the 'bad' stuff out, ya know?

But your menu's look good- i'm gonna start a thread for me b/c I'm back on track too!

By the way- drink red wine- better than white for you!

Re: Kate's Log

Well thats good news! Too bad I ate half a ham, egg and cheese on TOAST this morning! ARGH! I was ready to give up and slide over to the Weight Watchers crowd. Begining right now... * NEW START.

I've been drinking the white wine 'cause thats what Atkins said to have. Hmmph.

I have GOT to start drinking more water. I don't know whats wrong with me, I like water. Since its been a little cold these days I have to let the bottle warm up on my desk first, then I forget all about it. Next thing its 4 o'clock and I don't want to start pounding the water down when I have to get on the train.

Good luck on your fresh start! MRS!

Listen, you are doing the right thing. No matter what program you are on, you are occasionally going to slip up. Eating 2 slices of bread in the morning didn't get you where you are today- eating 2 slices of bread, a bagel, pasta for lunch, w/ bread, popccorn & pretzles for a snack got you that way- so think of it this way- when I eat a piece of bread or something and i'm mad at myself.. i look at the big picture- of how many less carbs I'm eating now... & then i feel better.

Re: Kate's Log

Good point Dina. There were days that I did just that, then for dinner I'd look at the plate and comment to DH, 'Geez, everything is white! Can we possibly fit more starch on this plate!'

While I still dream about cake for dessert at night, I can't believe how I've gone cold turkey with sugar the rest of the day. I used to have a hot chocolate EVERY morning on the train (even in Aug!) and then put 3-4 sugars in my tea/coffee.
I rarely even use the Splenda now.

Can't wait to follow your journal for ideas!

Look how good you are doing.. The pork rinds breading is a good trick, right?

Re: Kate's Log

I was sooooo surprised with the pork rinds! I think I tried them ages ago and was totally grossed out. I had one last night while making the chicken and was surprised. And ya know the chicken came out crispier than ever!

I just got the neatest freebie on the street. Splenda was handing out little bags of Valentine Candy Conversation hearts! The total carb for the packet is 14g - Those are safe carbs right?

I wouldn't eat them all at one time- but I think it should be OK! Nice freebie :)

I love the BBQ rinds.

In Mexico they had a gazillion different flavors.

Re: Kate's Log

Kate- looking at your menus I'm noticing you're eating too much cheese. You're supposed to limit it to no more than 4 oz a day... So- I say- you need to maybe do something like each hardboiled eggs in the morning or get some of the atkin's bars from the GNC. Also for snack I would mix it up- peanuts aren't the best- get some Almonds and some Macadamias. Peanuts aren't nuts- they are legumes- not the best.

Also- too much jello in the day- not good w/ the aspartame- that may spike your insulin levels- it has that effect on people.

But the pink strips are good- as my nutritionist says- if you are changing the strips, 'you're in the game'

Ok thanks, I'll try to find other things to add into my meals.
PS- Never knew that about the peanuts!
