I took his name. My last name was a Z, and always mispelled and mispronounced. I've got a brother - his children can carry the burden

I am ateacher and I am keeping my name at work. But everything else I am using his name.

I made my maiden name my middle name and took DH's last name. It worked out well since my name plate at work has my full name and people pretty much call me 'Jennifer OldName NewName.'' Sort of like the benefit of hyphenating but without the hassle of trying to fit a long last name into those letter blocks on various forms

I'm traditional when it comes to this - I feel like it is an honor to share his name because it makes us a family. Also, I think it is a nice transition to the next phase of my life. I'm ready to change it!

Me too! I am excited to become 'family' with my FH. I love my maiden name, but marriage is a compromise and a big change-I'm ready for it!

None of the above, I added DH's last name to mine w/o a hyphen

I am now Jean Marie MaidenName MarriedName. All girls in my family and wanted to keep the name going, it is also very different/uncommon compared to his and I needed to keep it for my professional identity. I am very pleased so far with what I have done....i can use both or either alone!

I can not wait to take his name! I absolutely hate my last name and am looking so forward to changing it.

It's so funny, because I'm going to be Mrs. Hislastname for more of my life than I would be Ms. Mylastname.

I can wait to be Mrs.Walsh!!!

I'm keeping my name, I'm proud of my family name. Also I think IMHO that its not fair that the woman is expect to change her name.

me too. I'm keeping mine. i see no reason to change it (personally), though i see why other people want to change theirs.

I think it's a personal thing. But i HATE It when people tell me that not changing my name is wierd because changing names is a sign of love, you might as well live in separate houses, blah blah!! JEEZ.

I have a middle name but I am adding my maiden name as a second middle name with NO hyphen between it and my new surname. I can use any or all of the names as I see fit.

That's what I did.

I did an alteration of this, I added DH's name to my last name as a second last name with no hypen so I sometimes use my maiden, sometimes married and sometimes both depending on the situation!! Did it for both professional and personal reasons...

I'd LOVE to keep my old name b/c its very easy and goes very well w/ my name but first, I still use my exes name & 2nd even if it was MY maiden name, FH is very old-fashioned, as is his family & they would take it as a personal insult.

I'll take his name even though it will be harder for the kiddos to pronounce.

Currently...I have his name on some things...and my name still on others. Officially...I haven't changed it yet. Too lazy...maybe it's hard for me to let go... One of these days.
