im not sure if i should go home or not (its only like 3 minutes away) but i work in a small office....

WAIT. This is so funny- I wanted to ask this earlier this week, and didn't.

I used to have a major issue with this, and wouldn't go ANYWHERE except my house.

Then I lived with a friend (my MOH) for 6 years, and she completely disabused me of this notion. She had some very wise words on a myriad of subjects, but the ones that stood out to me the most were these:

'Never be embarrassed about ANYTHING that goes on in a bathroom. That's what it's there for, and that's what EVERYONE does in there.'

Can I tell you, these simple words changed my life? Now, if I have to go, I have to go.

CAVEAT: There is one exception. I will NOT go if anyone else is in the bathroom. I know a lot of other women who are this way. I will sit there and wait until whomever else is in there leaves. Or, if there is someone in there when I walk in, I will leave and come back later.

I've actually had a few Mexican Stand Offs, where two of us will sit there and wait until the other leaves. And we BOTH know what we're doing there- it's so ridiculous. I will sit there until tumbleweeds blow across the floor.

The WORST is when you're waiting, and the other person gets up, and you hear them at the mirror OPENING THEIR MAKEUP BAG TO REAPPLY. You KNOW why I'm waiting. Can't you do that later?

And another thing- why to the ladies, at least at my office, feel the need to have conversations in the ladies room? It's business only, people! Get OUT! And why would you choose THAT room to talk in?

And yet another thing- there's a girl I work with who hangs her coat in the ladies room ALL DAY. She says it's the first and last places she goes, so why not?

I'll tell you why not. It hangs RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE STALLS. Do you KNOW how far toilet flush spray spreads? It's FAR, MF'ers, and now it's all over your coat. And speaking of that, I suggest you stop bringing your coffee in there as well, and sit it on the sink in that paper cup while you 'go'. Excuse me, but that's pretty gross. And this girl is a beautiful and stylish young woman. What is she thinking?

So, my answer is, if I can wait, I will, but lately with the diet, I'm so excited when I can lose an ounce, I jump on the opportunity! I don't want to wait, and miss my window. Sometimes it goes back into hibernation if you wait too long.

Now how's THAT for TMI??

My toosh isnt spoile but I have a phobia to sit on public toliets - i dont thanks to my mother - so if I were to use a public bathroom I have to put all this paper around the seat.. so much effort, its just easier to hold it! I know Im a nut job

you think that's bad? my mother also passed this phobia onto me so at work i first wipe with a wet ones wipe or clorox wipe which i keep in the cabinet under the sink and then i also lay paper down. i refuse to use any other public bathroom other then the one at work.

ok let Bathroom psychiatrist Dana help you with your phobia since the point of these boards are to help here I go ....

step #1 admit that you have a problem --- you are way ahead of this step not only have you identified your problem but you know who to blame , good old mama lol

Step #2: face your fears!!! baby steps try going to the bathroom in very clean public toilet like Bloomingdales or Nordstrom see how it feels , cmon I know you can do it!!!!

Step #3 repeat step 2 until its no big deal, practice what you learned from bloomies and go to the bathroom in target or Wal-Mart

step 4 now that you have conquered your fear help thousand others that once feared toilets

Are you telling to actually sit on a public toliet WITHOUT the comfort of padded protection - known as piles and piles of napkins/tissues/toilet paper??? NO WAY!

My fi makes fun of me, but I can't do that in public at all, it's like I don't even need to unless I'm sick or eat something that goes right through me. He on the other hand always does everywhere.

It depends...if it just hit me, and I can't hold it, then yes, I'll go at work. I try not to b/c there's no fan or windows...just air fresheners lol. I think I've only gone at work 2x in my 3 years here. LOL. Usually I try to make it home.

I HATE the people who primp in there. Theres one woman in my office that is constantly guilty of this, shes my poop blocker, its her EVERY TIME.

If I can I try to hold it I do. I hate doing #2 in public places. I usually try to make sure that there is no on around.
The good thing is with me is that I work in a hospital. So if I don't feel well I will tell someone to watch my patients and go down to the public bathrooms where I don't know anybody.

We have a single person bathroom in our studio thats way out of the way from human traffic so yes.....i do.
