I have Corian countertop with a ceramic tile backsplash. I love it because it is so easy to take care of. We originally were just going to paint but the contractor suggested that we consider tile and I am glad that we did. It adds to the room and it cleans without a problem.

Re: Kitchen Backsplash help...
Richs Bride: Where can i get the copper 4x4 tiles for a reasonable price? I have no problem with my contractor doing them but ive only found them on the internet in the range of $4 each...which means several thouasands of dollors even in my little kitchen.

these might be too cheesy-but I'm pretty sure home depot carries them for less than $4 each metal tiles

Re: Kitchen Backsplash help...
I looked closely a my tiles and I have to say that the backsplash grout looks OK...
and really the only place that gets dirty on the backsplash is behind the sink...and it still looks OK...
I just hate the counter part...so I am sour about the tile...but it should be nice as a backsplash...even in white...
FYI...my counter tiles do stain...they are definitely a different color and no amount of bleach or scrubbing takes out the stain...but I think this is from banging and cutting the counter tiles and then the dirt gets trapped...so this wouldn't be a problem for the backsplash

Richsbride: THat kitchen is gorgeous! Did you do that? Beautiful.
I dont think that would look right in my kitchen since teh stove is pretty much dead center and there are no windows or other ornamentation around it.
I was thinking of getting 'fake' bricks as a backsplash to match the brick on the back wall. Do you know if they selling authentic looking facing bricks?
(sorry to bombard you with questions)
Erica: No worries - we are definitely getting granite counterops..i dont even like tiles on my floor so its not even a consideration for the countertop. Plus, i hate white..there is nothing white in my house.
Danielle: I would love all granite but not ready to spend a few more thousand.

Re: Kitchen Backsplash help...
Yeah it is pretty expensive, thankgod Danielles mom knows the woman that works there and she got a deal. My sister and My fiancees mom just totally redid their kitchens...They both look amazing.
The kitchen in the house that we just bought has authentic-looking bricks as the backpslash. We plan to do the kitchen over, but that is really that only thing I want to keep! I could take a picture of you like. You would just need to block out the rest of the kitchen to get the idea.

Thanks colleen..woudl love to see a photo.
The problem im finding is that i cant see to track down authentic looking brick faces..they all are standard brick (too thick) or really fake looking.

Sorry Stef I keep forgetting that you hate tile If you are doing a granite(sp?) countertop, why wouldn''t you just go with a matching backsplash? Or did you already explain why? Don''t mind me...I can''t keep up these days...I''m too tired all the time! *yawn*

Re: Kitchen Backsplash help...
The #1 reason is cost...i have a small kitchen so doing a granite backsplash is going to double the cost of the counter top...at least another few thousand. For that, i would just do the copper tiels i wanted.
But the other reason is that i will probably end up with a dark shade of granite and i just dont like the boxy look that my kitchen is going to get by putting the granite all the way up to the bottom of the cabinets. I could do the 4 inch backsplash but im looking for some alternatives to that.

Re: Kitchen Backsplash help...
Stef, I really don''t like tiled backsplashes, but my DH suggested we do tumbled marble and I love it. It is fairly inexpensive and a light color would make a kitchen look bigger. Here are some photos''s of the tumble marble we just put up.
