kleinfelds vent so long!

I finally went and let me tell you personally i did not like it at all!!! What is all the hype?

The fact that they act like your BFF, send you to a room filled with dresses in plastic bags, the fumes made my head spin! I pulled all these dresses none where in the room.

I printed all these pictures of dresses and they told me that they were all fake or out of style or past season, meanwhile they were all direct from the designers sites 2009 line!!

I explained my budget 6,000(I feel this is high and alot a salesperson can work with) I explained I hate big dresses. She makes me try on something that i can fit prob fit 5 people underneath the dress in the tulle. Then she claims has a miracle dress, I try it on love it brings me viels that were 3-5k just to get an idea. I take off the dress its so plain. Its off course exclusive to them and it is 7,600!!! explains to me since we are family now that she will get me a great deal if I buy my dress ASAP, realizes that I refuse to buy the dress and kicks me out before my appt ends.

I tried on a total of 2 dresses!! NEVER EVER AGAIN, I read all the reviews on yelp and I couldnt have agreed more!!

btw the dress is no where to be found on the site of the designer and Kleinfields till i found it on brides.com, a bride who got married in 2005!!!

Re: kleinfelds vent so long!

i guess it all comes down to who your sales person is like any store you go to and this is why you always see so many different experiences at bridal stores. If you had someone who was nasty and doesn't listen, then you will have a different experience from someone who had a great salesperson.

I bought my dress there and had the most amazing experience. My saleslady was amazing, brought out EXACTLY what I asked for, didnt push anything on me and infact when it came down to 2 dresses her and the manager convinced me to go for the dress that was a little bit less expensive bc they felt it flattered me alot more. They both said that obviously they would make more money off of me to sell me something more expensive but they have to do what they feel is right and suggest the dress they thought looked best on me. I was never asked what my budget was and never showed anything that wasn't my style. They really went above and beyond.

Sorry you had such a horrible experience, good luck and hope you find the dress you are looking for

if it was from 2005 they stop selling the dresses after a bit. They stay in the stores about 2-3 years and then many styles get discontinued that is probably why they don't have it.

Re: kleinfelds vent so long!

try RK bridal. i have never seen soo many dresses. they were very nice there and didnt rush you or pressure you into buying the dress. the place was clean and didnt have that plastic smell. the dressing rooms were a good size. they have a large variety of dresses, ones under $1000 and a good selection of dresses significantly more than than (mine was $910, so i wasnt looking at the more expensive selection).

out of all the places ive been, the service was b far the best there. it totally depends on the person you get, but the other saleswomen seemed very nice and helpful.

I couldnt agree more! I got my dress there and Im ordering my veil (Which they give you 10% off when you buy your dress there) I paid $1500 for my dress and its GORGEOUS! You go around and pick out what dresses you like so I suggest you go there with pictures of the dresses you like and the designers name you want. But they are AMAZING THERE! I reccomend them to EVERYONE!

Only problem is that she wants a Pnina tornai dress which is only sold at Kleinfelds. If she is willing to look at other designers should be fine, but again will depend on the designer and if they sell it at RK.

Re: kleinfelds vent so long!

I have to say, I had the same issue there. They were so rude to me once I said my budget was 3500--I tried on one that was 3800 that my bridal attendant told me 'was the best I was going to do for my budget' and I got the boot.

Really? I had a far better experience at any other salon I went to--Bridal Reflections (I went to NYC and Massapequa and bought my dress in Massapequa), Village Bridal, Adrienne's, RK, sh!t even the Vera Wang sample sale where I waited for hours was nicer to me than Kleinfelds!

Re: kleinfelds vent so long!

Try Wedding Atelier -- it is only a few blocks away from Kleinfelds. It is a much smaller place and their dresses start at about $1500 I think and go way up into the many thousands. They brought me exactly what I wanted (I got the second dress I tried on) and it was from a pic from a magazine that I ripped out. I feel like for a small store they have a large selection. PLus there are only a few customers in there at once because the store is small so everything just felt a bit more personalized. I decided not to go to Kleinfelds when I was dress-shopping because I felt like too much choice might be a bad thing and honestly, the show Say Yes to the Dress sort of turned me off.

Since you have a generous budget, you might also want to try the Bergdorf's Bridal Salon. I drool over this place. I am not sure what their dress prices start at, for some reason I think $3K, must have read that somewhere.

Re: kleinfelds vent so long!

I told them my budget was $3500... but the lower the better. Keasha worked great within my budget and she really helped me find the perfect dress. I LOVED the customer service I received from her! Far better than any of the other 6 stores or so I went to!

I'm sorry you guys didn't have Keasha.

I guess anywhere you go there are good and bad stories.

I had lots of dress shopping stress too. It was by far my least favorite wedding related thing to do! Good Luck!

Oh and BTW - she found me a dress for $2800.. and they took 10% off.. so it came to 2500.
I also got my veil there.. it was about $400... and they gave me 12.5% off. And I got my thomas knoell headpeice there and they also took 12.5% off (he was there too.. helping me find the right one!).

Re: kleinfelds vent so long!

I went just for the experience. They were trying to sell me runway fashion however my size 10 bootylicious self does not look very good in tight mermaid dresses. They told me I looked fabulous however I did not agree. they also had me try on a $750 peice of hair jewelery with a $3,100 veil. I said thank you and see ya laterrrr... i'm heading to Brooklyn where i will buy the same thing for less...

Re: kleinfelds vent so long!

Yes... the dress was a Kenneth Pool plain satin mermaid dress with crystals. It was $4200. The Kenneth Pool veil that matched the dress with the same crystals $3,100. It was almost as much as the dress...

Re: kleinfelds vent so long!

I second RK. I went there for BM dresses in 2007. THE ONE thing I didn't like was I argued with sales girl on what size to get me. She INSISTED I take a 2 and I told her trust me, I need a 4 for my bust.
I'm glad I did it. Even the 4 was a little tight!
But otherwise, they were very nice, everything was on time, etc...

I stopped by David's Bridal in the city to look at some stuff.
They were EXCELLENT!

I think she was referring to the dress she was given to try on that was $7600.
