We were thinking of doing some pics before the wedding ceremony but does make the first LOOK lose some of its luster?
I am not superstitious, hell we live together already BUT part of me says YES we should do pics before the ceremony so we dont lose time with our guests..Being
What are you all doing?

Re: Ladies are you seeing FH the day....
we did pics before & shared our 'first look' together at the beach alone where we took the pics...with photo & video nearby but far enough for us to have our own space...i always wanted that 'first look' down the aisle & debated this one but am so glad we did everything before...i don't even remember walking down the aisle...so the first look would've been a total blur anyway...this way we didn't miss a minute of our wedding and got so many great shots!

i did it the traditional way and we wouldn't change it. it meant to much that dh saw me for the first time as i was walking down the aisle

Re: Ladies are you seeing FH the day....
I didnt read the rest of the comments since I need to pack and go to bed, but I am seeing FH before the wedding.
We want to get our formal pictures done when we are all looking fresh (it's Aug and might be really hot), we don't want to miss the cocktail hour (or make any of our family/friends miss it) for pictures, we are getting married at our hall and there's no gap in between, and our photographer recommended it because she said she can get better pictures of our 'first sight of eachother' moment. We think it will still be special seeing eachother during the ceremony, but it will be nice to see eachother before in a situation where we can fully react, and hug, and not have to hide the tears.
Also, while I decided before taking this into consideration, we'll be having a Jewish ceremony which involves signing the Ketubah (marriage contract) right before the ceremony. We have to see eachother! Not sure how other Jewish brides work this out.
Sure I probably would have liked to see eachother for the first time at the ceremony, but in the scheme of things we think it's the lesser evil than making friends/family miss the CH (many of whom are OOT and have never been to a NY wedding), having a big gap between the cermony and reception which is inconvenient for guests, or any other combo.
I think the best alternative is taking part of your formal pictures before (bride with bridesmaids and brides family, groom with groomsmen and grooms family) and then just taking a few more at the beginning of the cocktail hour. However, we dont mind doing it all before.
