It seems like since I got enagaed people have said the stupidest things to me .... 1.Why a 2 year engagment? 2. Why can't we have beer in the bottles ? 3.That does not look like calligraphy, it looks like computer art! 4.You send out your invites on the early side... March is so far away! (Hello- we are half way thru January!)

Oh Jimmysbride dont worry- when FMIL saw the pics on the website ( shes never seen it in person) I had just booked so I was all excited and shes like whats so special about it? I hope your not spending a fortune .. I hope the food is good or my family will be upset I love her to death but WTF? Fine she offered to pay for the favors but nothing else!!! Besides the only reason she offered to pay for the favors was b/c she didnt want me to embarass her with something 'cheap' so instead she rather spend $700 that can go to something so much more important.. so she wont feel stupid. Im sorry but if your coming to my wedding for the favor.. dont come! Sorry to vent!

Let's see... where to start:
Choosing the date - FSIL: choose 4/4/04 as that is the best date to choose 'astrologically'. Us: Can't that's Palm Sunday, and the church won't do weddings that day. FSIL: How about outside the church? Can they send a priest somewhere else? Um, no. FSIL: Why not? (Because it's PALM SUNDAY) FSIL: Then you have to choose a day during the first cycle of the moon, between the new moon and full moon...
Choosing location: My mom: Don't choose anything too far out in Suffolk county - it will be too far for people to travel (Are you kidding me? My brother had his wedding in freakin' Massachussetts and people came).
Clothes: FSIL: If you want me to wear a dress you have to buy me one. Otherwise I'm wearing jeans. (no I'm not kidding).
Ring: Co-worker: Look at the size of that rock! How big is it? At least he did right by you (what the heck does that mean???)
I have to stop... I'm getting a headache thinking about all this.

Lots of questions from family about how much it would cost.
I thought these were more funny then stupid or rude - but my ring is a pretty good size - we got a great deal on it (jeweler is family friend) - lots of FI's friends made comments like 'I didn't know paramedics made THAT much'

From FMIL -
When I was first looking at reception sites - 'YOU know ______ + ________ 's wedding (FI's bro and sis in law) was really nice - looking at me like I should do the same - HELLO - they had a shotgun wedding in the living room b/c she was preggo!!
Also from FMIL - 'I know you'd be surprised but Dee's does really nice bouquets and flowers' - this is the nursery where they buy their garden plants and tools!!

OK - just though of a few more - I had been having problems with my younger sister (my MOH) and was talking to my mom on the phone who was totally defending her:
I was complaining how my sister had cancelled TWICE on me for shopping for my wedding dress and my mom was like 'Well - you don't have the same taste anyway' and 'you know she's not the 'jappy shopping type' - hell0 - NOT THE POINT!

Oh, this one is pretty good. My MOH and I are really close. She has many sisters and I'm close with some of them as well. Anyway so they're over my house...
MOH: Did you think about your guest list yet?
ME: Yeah, kinda sorta... I'm debating whether or not to invite certain people with or without a guest.
MOH Sister: What does that mean? You mean you can be invited to a wedding w/o a guest?
ME: Uhhh Yeah!
MOH S: Well, I just got an invitation to someone's wedding, and I just replied for two people. I'll find someone to go with...
ME: Did you read the invitation?
MOH: What do you mean it just says my name....
Need I go on...
Turns out, she wasn't invited to this persons wedding with a guest, but they accommodated her anyway.
I hope I don't have to any of that!

1) You arent having a shower - WHAT? You arent normal....
2) You dont want a bachelorette party? How are you going to celebrate the last time being single?
Umm...last time I checked I wasnt single - maybe to Uncle Sam I am but to everyone else - I'm NOT single - so nothing to celebrate
3) FH isnt have a bachelor party - man you are strict!

wow, this was a fun thread to read
the only thing ive gotten was when i was planning on black bm dresses(why dont you just have black and white photos, color is pointless now)- mother
on my deep pink bm dresses that i actually bought(are you sure the girls are going to like the color, what about the low back, arent shouldnt you get something different(the back is HIGH)- mother
why dont you get married earlier, you graduate in may you should get married in june-mother
***** the best of them all: my moms comment to people on the hall that i overheard her say ' the place is showy, its not much for the food'... WTF the food tasted great, FIL's liked it, we liked it, everyone ive mentioned the hall to that knows it says its really good for the food...
i see alot of people have mentioned rings here... the only thing ive gotten about my ring was one person asked, so did you get white gold, and i said nope we got platinum(everyone else she knew had white gold so it was a reasonable question)... also people have thought my ring to be bigger than it actually is(its 1.1c)... its a good thing i guess cause id probably be pi*ssed if i was asked some of those comments written...

2) Can i please come to your wedding (from someone who said they would come to my E party and pulled a no show cause they got drunk cost me $130. for 2 empty seats)
