Is anyone familiar with the different mansion reception/ceremony sites on LI? Any advice on which are better than others? Thanks!

Ok- here may be a weird question- but I'll ask it anyway. Do you know if the acoustics are bad in the ballrooms that have no carpets, special ceilings, etc (the way these mansions are). I'm wondering if the band/music will be too loud in these ballrooms and the noise will be intolerable. Just an odd thought- does anyone have any experience or insight into this issue? Thanks!!!
I had my wedding at the Bourne. We had a DJ and I didn't notice any issues with the acoustics and I'm a music freak!
I've visited 5 of the mansions: Vanderbilt (Oakdale), Vanderbilt (Centerport), Bourne, Coindre Hall, Deservesky
Vanderbilt (Oakdale) - It's beautiful (I used to row out of Dowling and was in the building all the time), but it didn't leave a lasting impression on me.
Vanderbilt (Centerport) - Outdoor tent on a brick walkway. 2 things concerned me, my guests in heels tripping on the bricks and the weather.
Coindre Hall - seemed run down and it would have taken a lot more to decorate it, it held less, and dinner and dancing would have to be in separate rooms.
DeServersky - The on-going construction and awnings ruined it for me immediately.
The Bourne - we walked in and went WOW. It offered everything: plenty of room for guests (the ballroom is spectacular), indoor & outdoor dining, ambience, a view of the water, and the price was right.
I didn't bother with Oheka. I knew I wanted to be by the water and Oheka couldn't accommodate the number of guests we were inviting at the time.
You really need to see each facility for yourself. Everybody's opinion will vary on each place and you have to find what's important to you and what's not. Best of luck with your search!!!

I am having my reception at the Bourne also! I was going for Oheka and could afford it, but I seemed cold and dreary!! I have been to wedding there and alot of people say the same thing, that it is kind of cold feeling. But it is really beautiful. Condrie hall is run down looking and dinner and dancing is in separate places. I would speak to Ben at Lessing and see what he can do. He is really great!! My brother got married at the Carlton in Eisenhower Park, which gives the same kind of feeling as a Mansion. It is really top notch and people are great. The food everything was great about his wedding.
