Hi LI Sound brides, May I ask what you are getting and, if you don't mind, what you are paying. I am wondering how much to budget for a dj and we are meeting with LIS tomorrow. Do they work with you on the price, or are they true to the price list they give out at showcases, etc.? Pls let me kow and TIA!!

Re: LI Sound - what are you getting?
They are def willing to work with you on price...We are getting: dj/mc Level 5 (or 6 i cant remember) lighting package with lighting tech 2 plasma screens zap shots with photo tech monogram on dance floor uplighting percussionist dinner singer
For $4250. Other places I went were charging so much more for just the basics (one place i went to wanted $3000 just for the dj/mc and one plasma screen!!!!)

Wow, that is a lot! Which dinner singer are you using? And MC? I saw on a previous post that you saw a showcase of theirs - we went to one, but unfortunately, they had some technical difficulties, but I could still tell they were really professional and just totally experienced, that is why we like them. Thanks for the advice!

Re: LI Sound - what are you getting?
Gaby and Jackie....when did u book with them??? 2009 or 2008????
cuz im a little annoyed right now, im going to book my package with them tomorrow, and both of ur prices seem better than mine....chris did not wanna budge on the folder's prices
and i have been trying to respect that, but if everyone else's bargaining is working, then im not gonna jus sit there tomorrow...
besides the fact that we're getting like a bunch of stuff too!!
dj/mc for 4 hours uplighting percussionist lighting package 2 steel drummer at CH name monogram in lights party prop package 4
that all comes to $4500!!!!!!!!! and i know for a fact in their folder the TV w/zap shots is like 650!!!!!!!!!! and thats for one TV!!!!! cuz we wanted a TV just for the photo montage, no zap shots, but im like we're already at 4500 so we cant!!!
if u have booked in 2009, would u mind sharing the breakdown of prices with me, or reasons u are getting cheaper than the folder??? cuz im a little PO'd right now

Re: LI Sound - what are you getting?
I booked maybe a month ago...Then at the showcase two weeks ago we added on the percussionist and singer, i won a $200 off coupon for answering a question... Which one is Chris? The blonde guy...I didnt meet with him when i signed the contract, i met with the wedding planner guy (he was so awesome!!) I did sit with the blonde MC guy the night of the showcase and I pretty much said this is what I want, i want you to honor your coupon and I want a deal on it, So he upped the coupon to $225 and that was that, he didnt seem to want to budge anymore than that... Did you already sign with them?

Re: LI Sound - what are you getting?
oh and when we signed the contract we said we would sign on the spot but the price needed to be lower and if it wasnt we would need to think about it...The price came down about $600-800 when we said that when we signed (our original price was $3650 before we added on the other stuff)

Re: LI Sound - what are you getting?
i already signed, i am definitely going with them, but i just dont wanna get screwed
whats happening also is that my dad used to work for LIS, and my cousin is good friends w/chris (owner) so thats why we sat down w/him when we left the deposit.....i told him i expected something due to the fact that my dad worked there years ago (for the old owner) and since my cousin knows him n always gets him the job for my family, etc...
sooooo he said that any upgrades we want will be 10% off (the dj/mc is the only thing that stays same) so that definitely is helping when u look at it, since we're getting so many upgrades, it comes out to $300 off.
BUTTT we also won a $200 coupon at the first showcase i went to (thats why i wasnt as involved otherwise i woulda been all over that lol) ACTUALLY both FH and i won, i did the lindy w/Mike on the dance floor, and he did the thing where the guys had to dance (and FH is very very shy so he deserves that $200) and i know that we cant use both $200 coupons, thats all good, but i told mike when i got the coupon that we were getting 10% off upgrades, can i still use this since we won it fair n square? and he said YES then when i told chris he got all annoyed...
so i think im gonna insist that he honors it

well thats what i told him too!!! i said, 'this is the first DJ company we've come to, give me incentive not to shop around' which i meant on top of the fact of the connections, but he was just like 'ya well u will get 10% off upgrades' n i was jus thnking ok we already know that!!!
so 600-800 off is a lot more than the 300 off im getting, GRRRRRR im gonna make my appt to be w/their coordinator guy tomorrow, not chris!!!!!!

Re: LI Sound - what are you getting?
Insist on it, and make it seem that you have no problem breaking your contract with them and finding another vendor...They dont want to loose your business and ruin any relationships they have...I insisted he take my coupon, i could tell he didnt want to (he kept saying I am really doing you a favor by taking this, its for new clients only...blah blah blah, shut up and take the coupon dude...if you didnt want people already booked getting them then you shouldnt invite them to the showcase in the first place...) but he took the coupon and I kept pushing that I wanted it plus some...I got an extra $25 out of it, not much but still something...Its a part of a tip for one of the 6 guys that I have that night...

Re: LI Sound - what are you getting?
You guys are all so good about bargaining - I feel so uncomfortable doing it. What would you say exactly? Like, 'Is this the best you can do?' I don't know!! I would be willing to book on the spot too tomorrow, maybe I can use that as leverage. We are still more than a year away from our date though. I wonder if I should wait until it gets a little closer to book. thoughts?

Re: LI Sound - what are you getting?
Yes, I def think you feed the photogs people as well. Usually there is like a full table of vendors somewhere at weddings. We don't have to pay to feed the house vendors, that is why we are also interested in LI sound . . .

If your getting zap shots dont forget to feed that guy too!!!!
So you need to feed photo, assistant, video, DOC (if you have one) and all the guys that come with the DJ.....

Re: LI Sound - what are you getting?
i dont think u should wait, they book up fast...
if they are the first DJs ur meeting with, DEFINITELY use that to ur advantage, that u have every reason to go bargain w/other companies, but like theirs, so how can they convince u to book on the spot??? whats the incentive??
omg where do they seat the vendors??? im gonna have like every table that i can use in my room for guests!!!!!!! do they have to be seated in my room?? or will they seat them in like the room next to mine thats not being used (cuz were doing outside CH)
im getting stressed LOL

You dont have to wait to book...We are a year and a half from our date and most places we looked were already half booked up for the day...
When you go in just play with a poker face on...Tell them what you want and ask for their price, when they say it just say you were hoping for it to be lower (you really like tham and wouldnt mind booking but only if they come down on price or throw something in for you...) Just keep a poker face on and dont let them take you for a run around, also if they have no price list who knows where they are getting their numbers from so DEF haggle with those kinds of people...
