I have been living with FH for 5 months. Acutally, when he asked my dad for permission, my dad wouldn't agree unless we lived together first (he and my step-mom are both on their third marriages). His mom was in denial until he actually packed up and left (little bit overbearing italian mama-but means well). I adore living with him, it really re-affirmed to me that I want to spend the rest of my life with him. I agree with the rest of you ladies, it is difficult to save money towards a wedding, and to decide who is paying what (I make more $$ then him, but he has more $$ in savings account that he won't touch-smart but frustrating). We have actually started a totally seperate account together that we both put $ in.

you girls are amazing, paying for weddings yourselves and living on your own! Both FH and I are in school finishing up in May with our BA's in teaching and both our parents are paying for this wedding.

we have been living for almost 3yrs!! its amazing but we do cut back, since the wedding its alittle difficult but we are getting help from our families for wedding

FH and I still live with our parents and we are both working full-time and trying to save money to be able to buy ANYTHING we can afford on this lovely island. We want to try to avoid the whole renting thing and buy a condo or co-op for the first few years. We are having help from our parents for the wedding and hopefully when its all said and done we won't have to put in much money (although aside from our joint savings account we have a wedding account as well to fall back on if need be.) We are hoping to be out on our own come a year from now.

same here! so that we have that extra $$ for the wedding--we're living with our families too. right before the wedding, we'll make the big move.

I live with FH and though it can be CRAZY with bills and normal daily funds, and then to save on top of it-I wouldnt change a thing. We are getting help from both of our families but we are still paying alot-and though it seems like it will never happen in time, its ok-it takes time

We are both living at home... defintiely weird for me as I haven't lived at home since I went away to college 10 years ago, but I got a job in the area and moved back to the Island, so here I am. It is working out well living at home as my parents have been great... they've been telling me to keep the rent that I had been paying them and put it towards the wedding. We are paying for the wedding ourselves as well so it's hard just have to keep saving, even though we are doing a relatively inexpensive wedding by LI standards.
