we saw 9 places - fell back in love with the 1st one

We just went to the one but I had a few lined up to look at. Surprisingly, FH walked in and said, 'this is it - I love it'. Crazy, huh? He had been to some of the others for other weddings and didn't like most of them.

I saw about 6... Flowerfield was #1 and nothing else compared to it.

I went to a few (only because fh) but anything with a chandeliers was out and so was chateau le mar I go to on average 2 weddings there a year plus bridal showers and even a baby shower since i am from the area. But I had been to Brentwood and though it was cute and wasnt glitzy which is what i wanted and with a 60k it wasnt based on budget

ummm, i went to 15 but i'm crazy. We originally wanted a vineyard wedding, so we did a few the vineyards and then went to like 10 RHs. I had a spreadsheet and everything. FH wanted to kill me LOL

We only went to 3 but I used past information some RH i had been to already for weddings or other parties and knew which ones i didnt want to even go see b/c i hadnt liked it when i went...then i did online research and read reviews and comments that had been posted ...doing the work before hand made it easier and didnt have to go to so many places

I did a lot of online research - But really ended up only going to one.... we had them hold the date but didnt book on the spot, i didnt want to be over zealous.
side bar:
FH is not into getting married at a 'venu'. He generally hates RHs and the hoopla. WE originally were going to go the destination route and get married and have our wedding in USVI - St. John's. we were ready to book when my 90 year old grandma had a melt down that she couldnt go - and i didnt want to be married without her there.

okay... so all that being said, i was just happy that he was all excited about VYC - we loved the decor, and the water view and we had heard very good things about the food recently from people that had been to events there. We fell in love with the BM Guillio and knew it was the one. We went back a week later with the deposit and hadn't looked anywhere else.

That being said. You can go see 100 RHs or you can go see 1 - you'll know when to stop looking when it feels like where you were meant to be!

Good luck, the fun is just beginning!!

Re: Looking @ RHs

based on all the research we did online, and inquiries we made over the phone, we thought we had narrowed it down to the final halls, and that it was simply a matter of just going in person and making our final decision.

while most of the venues we looked at were great - and i believe i would have been happy had we booked with a lot of them, there was always a 'but' (or several 'but's).
'this hall is great, but... '

we wanted to find a hall that had as few 'but's' as possible, so we kept looking. it was the 13th hall that we totally fell in love with and booked.

i think you and your fiance will know after you visit the first 3 whether or not you'll want to check out some more. keep us posted on how you make out! :)

We only went to one. I did a lot of research online and narrowed it down to three but only went to WM.

Only one and booked on the spot. Even i wasnt in the mood to be running from place to place... you might enjoy it so have fun

Same here. I called a lot of places, but we had some very specific ideas in mind about what we wanted, and many of the places couldn't do that. We wanted a buffet for the meal, we wanted fabulous food, we wanted a beautiful indoor location for our ceremony, and we wanted a day wedding on a Saturday in July. We did not want valet parking, and we wanted a place that does one wedding at a time.

DH lived OOT so I called, got quotes, set up a bunch of appointments, and we went to the first at the Milleridge Cottage and knew that was it. There was no reason to see anywhere else.

We were also planning the wedding in 6 months so time was of the essence.

We went to see North Ritz, Bridgeview, Carlyle on the Green, Lombardi's on the Sound and The Inn and we ended up w/ The Inn

I am not sure exactly how many we saw but it was over 10 (probably closer to 20)! I kept thinking we were crazy going to so many but FH said when we found the right one we would know and he was right!
We also did alot of online research and called a ton of places too!

We went to six different reception halls:

Leonards, Westbury Manor, The Royalton, The North Ritz Club, Jericho Terrace, and The Inn at New Hyde Park.

The Inn at New Hyde Park was the last one we visited. We booked on the spot. We fell in love!

We went to 20plus. I still can't believe we did, but we really had trouble choosing. Lol.

Aim to look at more, just in case you are not thrilled with the three you looked at. Do your research and narrow down which ones you want according to location, number of brides the venue has per day, grounds, theme etc.

We saw about 20- I highly reccomend seeing as many as you can. We found 'the one' and it was the last hall we saw!! I'm so glad we kept looking!

Re: Looking @ RHs

We technically only looked at two, and drove by two other ones. We booked the first one we saw - there was no comparison to the rest and it just felt like the place we should be getting married in. It also helped that the room is gorgeous (in our eyes), the price was right, and the people were beyond sweet!

We went to 3. Did a lot of looking online. And a lot of long phone calls. Some places were out because of price/ date not avail.
We planned our wedding in less than 5 months and did not want a place that was overly ornate, we wanted more casual and laid back.
The one we booked with was the first place we sched, but the last place we saw. And we knew right away, that we did not need to look at anything else.
