We went to 6. I saw Westbury Manor third and knew it was the one, but I decided to look at a few more places just to be sure.

Re: Looking @ RHs
I looked at a total of 7, my FH saw two of the seven. we ruled one of tose two out right away. the ones i saw without him i ruled one out and one was ok but not on my top of the list. I will be bring him to see the top 3 of the ones i liked that he did not see. we will then choose from those 4

Re: Looking @ RHs
I had to book my RH twice...long story, but I had planned a wedding in 2006 and then postponed it.
First time I looked at 2 halls and booked #1
Second time I looked at 3 halls and booked #3.
I knew what I wanted, so I was able to narrow it down.
You can think about location , then for example, I originally wanted 1 wedding at a time, which narrowed it down a LOT. Then you can think of the general look and feel. For example, thinking of Scotto Bros properties, Westbury Manor and Chateau briand have two very differnt feels to them, so if I were looking, for me, there's only one I'd look at because the other is not my style. You can also decide whether you want there to be an outdoor picture taking area (some places in queens and nassau don't have much of this, or any at all- floral terrace for example has NO outdoor space). You can also decide whether you want it to be on the water, whether you want an outdoor CH, etc, etc. I think you can use the internet and the wedding sites and services guide to narrow it down quite a bit.

I went to 7 I think. And DH only looked at 2 and he LOVED JT and didn't understand why I was still thinking about looking.

About how many did you physically go and see? FH wants to cut it down to like 3 to check out and I feel thats too few. Thoughts?
i found that 3 in one day was more than enough. i did 4 in one day and we were EXHAUSTED afterwards.
i made a list of 8 RHs based on a ton of research. we visited 4 in one day and then 2 on two separate days and it worked out great.

Re: Looking @ RHs
So far we went to 3 halls to look at. There is one more I would like to see before making our final decision. But I looked at TONS on the internet, and was able to knock them out of the running due to decor I didn't like or out of our price range, etc.

ETA:
we visited:
Swan Club Chateau Briand Crest Hollow North Ritz Club Jericho Terrace Thatched Cottage Fox Hollow Floral Terrace
We saw Crest Hollow first and secretly I knew it was the one, but we saw 7 others also lol.

Re: Looking @ RHs
One! Drove up, walked in and that was it. We were initially planning a destination for just us, then when mom was dx with cancer, we figured a small intimate dinner at a restaurant. I made the mistake of asking my father if he wanted to invite anyone and he sent me a list of 30. So we originally guaranteed 50 and now figuring 100. Mom and I went on a Wednesday morning, FH went to see it with me that Sunday and I booked within a few days.
First venue, first photographer, first florist, first baker, first officiant, first make-up artist, etc. I'd have no patience or time to look at tons of places. I've been to a handful of LI weddings to know what I like/don't.
Knowing what you want/don't want should aid in looking for what you want. If you have a definite date in mind call and see if a place is even available first. No sense in falling in love only to learn it's booked.
For me planning a wedding in 4 months has been EASY and last minute saved me a ton of money

We went to 3. To be honest, we only really needed to see one, but we looked at the other 2 just to be sure.

Re: Looking @ RHs
We looked at 6 but we knew when we went to the WCC that we loved it. The more you see the more you get to compare and see what you want. If you know what you want then it may be easier, but each hall is slightly different with what they offer even though its mostly the same stuff.
Start with 3 and then go from there. If you aren't in love with any of them then def go see another one!

haaa I went to 30 and i think FH was at every single one of the them with me (during football season none the less). And i needed that to make sure i saw everything. that is just the type of person i am- i like to see ALL options and be totally planned out. little crazy i know!
