Re: low key reception place ?

Well it doesn't have the scenic views, but try 15th & West (the Nassau Bar Association). You would call Philip Stone Caterers (exclusive to the site). They have some photos of the place on their website. The price is very reasonable and the food/service has gotten great reviews by many people I know as well as the NY Times. I believe they require 100 min. though.

Re: low key reception place ?

FH & I were all about a low key place. We decided on Sans Souci of Sea Cliff.

We also liked Sail Harbor, George Washington Manor, and the Milleridge Cottage.

Re: low key reception place ?

there are soo many beautiful low key places.. I looked at so many.. I had initially wanted to have the reception in NYc until I found my place..

I suggest you try the following:

James Burden Mansion
Boathouse
Lighthouse at chelsea Piers
River Cafe
Manhattan Penthouse
Firebird
Loft 150 (? can't remember if that's the name)
Whitespace
Tribeca Loft
Metronome
Chemist Club
NY Botanical
Landmark on the Park
American Battery on the park (again I am tired and don't have my wedding folder here so don't quote me)
Rainbow Room
Cipriani
Studio 450 (this is where I was going to have it up until I found my place)

I have a ton more.. I went to see soo many places..

Re: low key reception place ?

I 'd need my folder toknow for sure.. how much are you looking to spend? what month, day, time are you looking for?? that's key too,. the only place I know of is Studio 450 and that was 8,000 site fee..and you have the entire place to yourself for the entire night.but you have to get you'd need to get your own caterer and they are NOT flexible on the site fee

Manhattan Penthouse was pretty reasonable.. they quoted me 125? for a saturday night and it fits like 150 people tops.. the guy will tell you they can fit either that many or more but the room seems too small for that many... really nice place though and you have a great view..

check out..

Re: low key reception place ?

I suggest Sans Souci in Sea Cliff. I'm getting married there in Aug. 03 and I think it fits perfectly with what you are looking for. Do a search on it on this site and you will see a lot of great info on it. Good luck!

Re: low key reception place ?

Riviera in Massapequa. It has kind of an old type feel. VERY romantic. It has a beautiful view of the water and a nice outside area. The ceremony would have to be held outside. We really liked it but it was too small for us but perfect for 100 people.

Re: low key reception place ?

I second the Sans Souci!!!!!! I had the exact same criteria as you when looking for a reception hall (except about 140 guests). The Sans Souci was absolutely amazing!!! Great food, atmosphere, views (on the water), affordable prices, etc. - Definitely worth checking out.
