Major Freak Out!!!!!!!

So I literally had a panic attack tonight while I was at work, I was washing my hands and my ring slid off and went straight down the drain!!!!!!

My ring is slightly big and me and my FH have been meaning to go get it re-sized however, we put it off mostly due to a super busy schedule.

I work in a building in the city with 17 floors so I immediately started panicking and thinking the worse that it would go to some large sewer never to be seen again , since I work overnight the super on duty for the building was less than helpful and said he could not do anything. I sought out 24 hour plumbing services to no avail.

I called my FH and literally cried my eyes out once I told him what happened, he was surprisingly calm and was all set to come to my job with a wrench to try to help me get it. Luckily me and my co worker decided that we should probably get it our out ourselves first so I removed the pipe from the wall (luckily it was easy to remove) and took the pipes connected to the sink apart til we found it. It was in the first section of the pipes and in tact with no damage.

I screamed and jumped up and down once it popped out of the pipes, after much crying, yelling and freaking out I got my ring back.

Moral of the story I am getting my ring re-sized and insured today!!!!!

Major Freak Out!!!!!!!

Holy bananas, I had a similar thing happen to me a few months ago. I thought I dropped it in the toilet and flushed it, but it turned out I had taken it off lol. It was insured, but it would still never have been MY ring once replaced so I know how you're feeling!

I took my ring to the jeweler about sizing but because it has small side stones and my finger is so small to begin with, he didn't want to break and resize it and I didn't want that either! Especially because the small stones could come loose. So they put these 2 gold balls in the bottom of the ring to size it down 1/2 a size (or less, they could always shave them down to 1/4 less) and it worked perfectly. It took me a few days to get used to the feeling and to get the knack of taking it off without dislocating my finger, but I love it now. And it's so easy to have them knocked out if my fingers ever get bigger. It went from a size 4 to a 3.5 with the balls.

Re: Major Freak Out!!!!!!!

OH wow I didn't know they could do that, I will be going to the Jeweler he brought the ring from to see what options I had.

But I was so upset at the possibility I would never see MY ring again. lesson learned!

Major Freak Out!!!!!!!

I used to work for a jewelry company and yes, those sizing balls work. :)

If you want a less permanent option, there's a thin strip of metal that can be wrapped around the bottom inside of the ring. It's removable.
