Someone PLEASE tell my I'm not being cheap by not having favors!! I feel so guilty that I'm not, but it really isn't in the budget.

YOu are not being cheap! Honestly I dont think most people will even notice! I have left more than one wedding without the favor and not noticed it until the next day or somehting!
This is your wedding people are there because they want to share your day not because tehy want some free little something!!!

I disagree. Maybe your wedding is not in peoples budgets. Dress, transport, gift, etc. But people who want to be there will be there. Whether they give you a gift or not, you still should show your gratitude for their attendance.

You are definately NOT being cheap! I have heard that people barely notice what kinds of favors, if any, they get anyway. Don't worry!

Re: Make me feel better....
If you're worried about it, maybe you could do something really simple and inexpensive, like a handful of candies (jordan almonds or M&Ms) wrapped in some tulle.....

Re: Make me feel better....
OHMIGOD!! I SOOOOOO DO NOT WANT TO DO FAVORS. I think it's a waste of $$. AT most (if FH insists), we will put a bunch of Kisses in some tulle with ribbon.
ETS: No offense to anyone, JMO.

right! don't get me wrong, i'm going for budget favors myself. and yes, i am not a big fan of more dust collectors in the house. but i think it's only right to give something. a little something! it's part of the whole wedding thing...

If you feel that bad about it, maybe you could go to a dollar store and get small picture frames and wrap them up, they usually have some really nice ones and when you buy a lot of something they usually give an additional discount. You could put a little printed poem in them saying they can fill it with your picture when you get it. Or you could order the hershey bars and have your names and a thank you printed on them, they are not too expensive. Although I agree favors are really a waste and people probably don't save them half the time, I still think you should give something to thank them for coming no matter how smal it is. Even if you just print a thank you scroll, roll it up and attach little hershey kisses or something to it. JMO

Inviting them and paying for their dinner is costing you money, but think of the expenses they have as well, they have to buy clothing, transportation, and a gift. Again JMO

You are not being cheap. Don't give it another thought. Funny, just yesterday I was discussing my daughter's favors with a friend who was married 8 yrs ago. She didn't give out favors, no one cared & 8 yrs after the fact, my friend didn't even remember that she hadn't given any out. Not a big deal.

You know what, it is your wedding and you really have to do what you can afford. Thats what it comes down to. People will get over it if they don't get a favor and some probably won't even notice. Don't stress over it. Maybe down the road you will come up with a little extra money and be able to get a little something. I know we couldn't really afford them either, so we ended up getting wine and they were only $1.45 each. Don't stress over it. Your wedding will be great favors or no favors!!

Re: Make me feel better....
Just wanted to respond that I usually feel like I'm paying for my own dinner and drinks since I give money. And after doing that and usually also giving a shower gift and sometimes an engagement gift I don't think it's too much for the bride/groom to give me a favor. It can be anything but to me a favor is the bride & groom's recognition of the guest for now, with their thank you coming later.

Re: Make me feel better....
I remember a cute idea for a favor was a handwritten invitation to dinner with the newlyweds. I thought that was cute and if anyone calls you on it, you can have them over if you want.

thank you DONNA. and besides btrflygrl you were the one who said you felt bad about it. if that's what you want to do, then do it. but don't post something like that and not expect to get opinions.

Re: Make me feel better....
I think she was trying to get support for not being able to afford the favors not debate having them or not.
As a guest, I know I wouldn't notice not getting a favor unless someone said 'hey, we didn't get a favor.'

you're right. i'm sorry. if it's not in your budget, it's not in your budget. people probably won't notice. your wedding will be perfect without favors. how's that?

I don't think you are being cheap by not having favors. Most people won't even notice. If you feel that bad, wrap up some candy in tulle and tie a ribbon around it. Most favors are dust collectors anyway! I don't even think I took the favor at the last wedding that I went to. And I definately don't have any from past weddings, they usually end up in the trash.

Re: Make me feel better....
Oh geez-
If you don't have the money for favors, don't get them. They're too expensive anyway. Most people won't notice.
But if you're this worried about it, I got my favors on eBay, $50 for 150 of them, and then $20 for custom designed heart shaped tags.
I know how you feel. I cannot afford favors, but I feel like I have to. I am getting small picture frames that have the seating assignments on them and cost 99 cents. When I send out my thank you's, I will include a picture of me and the hubbie that will fit in the frame.
