Make-up Counters in Macys and others...
I was going to book Jaqueline Nicole for my eparty, for me and my mom. But she is booked that day. Sooo our other option I thought is make-up counters. Which ones offer a free make over? Do you tip them? Can you make an appt with a specific person?I see a couple of people used the Chanel counters. Anyone in specific I should ask for? In Macy's? Someone said Paola in Bloomies-do we need an appt to see her?
We are not trying to spend alot of money on this if we have another alternative. Thanks as always.

Mac does it..and I don't think they charge. You may have to buy some of the makeup though. I've gone and they just went nuts on my face without me telling them what to do!

Why not go to Berdorf Goodman's..The girl there I have her card at home does it for free.. Just have to buy a lipstick at the Stila counter...

I had a trial at MAC counter and hated it. They put too much makeup on me!!! But I like the quality of their eyeshadows, they last!!!

Theresa....totally agreed. They can be very *****y. They just think too highly of themselves.Another idea....go to Sephora. It's definately free there, and they have a lot of good makeup artists!

You have to check out Laura D' Angelo in Bloomingdales at the Rooselvelt Field Mall... She is the Manager of the Prescriptives Counter and does it at your place on the day.... She did Niecey (Denise's) make-up for her wedding.... Do a search and you will see what I mean....

I know the MAC counter at Bloomingdales is good. They are really nice. I won't go to the MAC store becuase of an experience with a nasty girl but I was just at the one in bloomingdales and they were great.

Re: Make-up Counters in Macys and others...
As a former employee of Chanel, I can tell you that no salesperson will charge you for a makeover done at a counter b/c they are not allowed. Every cosmetics company provides complimentary makeovers - to ANYONE! Some girls might tell you that you need to buy some products but that is just b/c they don't want to do the makeover for nothing (they work on commission). Just be weary - I worked for over 4 years as a makeup artist and there are very few people I would trust to do my makeup. Just because they work at a cosmetics counter doesn't mean that they are liscenced nor that they know what they are doing. Good luck!

Re: Make-up Counters in Macys and others...
With the way these girls act you would think they were working with Movie Stars all day...........I told one off..
Edited to say....
The girls at Mac in Bloomindales are not always so nice. I know one of the girls there dates HUGE DJ in the scene and she thinks she is the best..
She is never helpful and all she does is knock whatever you are asking her about.. THIS IS HER JOB.. Sorry her DJ BF doesn't pay her bills ..
I hate RUDE people who think their poopie doesn't stink!

I went to the MAC counter at Macy's in Manhasset for my e-party. I made an appointment. But I had to buy $50 worth of their product.

I few times I have used the Lancome counter in Lord and Taylor's. I always go though and check out the girls behind the counter and if I like the make-up on one of them I select that girl. They do a nice job - just tell them what you are looking for. I didn't have to pay but I bought the lipliner and lipstick to use that night.

Re: Make-up Counters in Macys and others...
My friend was fully prepared to do her own wedding makeup because she couldn't find anyone who didn't make her look like a clown (those were her words, not mine) and went to the clinique counter in Macys (34th Street). She wasn't even planning on having the girl do her makeup but she explained the situation and the girl offered to give her a free trial - and wouldn't even accept a tip! The girl did such a good job she hired her on the spot.

I was just going to post about Laura but sept20yay! beat me to it. Thanks sept20yay! for your compliments!Laura is very sweet and did a great job on my trial and wedding day. She did not require I buy anything but recommended for my wedding to buy the lipstick and liner (which I did) for re-applying. that was the only thing I needed to re-apply. She did my make-up, my MOH, 1 BM's and my mom (my mom was so scared too because she didn't want any face makeup - Laura put her and ease and my mom was happy with her makeup!)

Thanks all.
I have to print this out now to save for later. My mom is going to go nutty. I can see her saying: 'Well let's just go to all and see which one we like the best!'
Niecey I sent you FM.

I used Melanie from the Chanel counter at the Smithhaven mall Macys. I was not charged for the trial or did she accept a tip. I was very pleased with her service.
