married ladies - did you have any 'no shows' at your wedding?

Original post by Kara and Todd

Did any of you have people RSVP yes and then not show up -- or fewer showed up than responded?

Just curious how prevalent this is. I know this happened to one of my brother's, but I don't think it happened to the other...

my parents friends did this for my sisters wedding. They stopped by the house the day before the wedding and said they decided to go away for the weekend instead. my parents were kinda turned off by this. And one person had to come late cus of a funeral- very understandable. otherwise everyone showed they said they would.

I am not married yet obviously lol but for my e-party this happened. I had about 6 ppl if i remember correctly who did RSVP-yes and didn't show...2 were understandable bc it was during the huge snowstorm upstate and she and her bf would've had to drive down from syracuse, but at the same time i didn't get a call until not long before my party. Then one friend must've called me at least 7x to tell me yes her bf is coming or not coming and again it started the night before and then the calls continued until a few hrs before my party which honestly at that point really made no difference to tell me because people don't realize that we have to pay our RH about 1-2 weeks before but guess others don't know this. Also my cousin's bf never came, there was never talk of him not coming, i even spoke to her a few short hrs before my party to arrange transportation for her, i had a family friend pick her up and make sure her and her bf had a ride but when she showed up he wasn't there and i was never told anything about it even then.

Oh and one person got REAL sick so this was understandable so he and his wife didn't come.

i had no show because they couldn't find the swan club....got lost

I have to admit, we got lost and couldn't find the Swan Club either when we went to look at it.

FH and i liked the swan club before we saw our hall and one of FH's concerns was people not familiar with the area getting lost.

I had 4 no shows but 2 of them were expected. I still don't know why people respond yes and then don't show up.

Not married yet, but my friend had 20 (yes, TWENTY) no shows.

Not 'no' rsvps... these were people she invited, who RSVP'd yes, and then didn't show up.

She invited over 150.
130 RSVP'd yes
110 showed up on the big day.

This freaks me out - they lost a lot of money!!!

wow that is sooo rude of all those people!!

Re: married ladies - did you have any 'no shows' at your wedding?

We had 13 no-shows.

7 had good excuses (got stuck travelling, sick family member)

2 were people who responded with guest and came alone (one apologized and gave a gift to cover the guest and the other didn't)

2 people 'forgot' and finally apologized to my mom at my cousin's wedding on 5/11 (and gave us a gift through my mom even though I was at the same wedding a few tables away but, whatever)

2 people just didn't show and we haven't heard from them since

ETA: We invited 429 and had 325 yesses at the time we had to give our headcount in (3 days before). We had some people who had originally responded yes that had to change their answer due to legitimate reasons for the most part (except MILs cousins who just decided not to come).

What a great post. I have been thinking about this like crazy. I have two friends and my sister-in-law who are all pregnant vowing they will make it no matter what to the wedding.
(1 Due: Aug 14th)
(1 Due: Aug 27th - My SIL)
(1 Due: Sept 9)
Wedding Day Sept 2
I know they will say yes, but when the date comes, they won't show. Do you recommend rounding down? What do you do???

5 no shows

1 we knew about before the wedding but after our final count/payment was due...there were extenuating circumstances so we understood

2 my cousin said he was bringing a date and never did and DH co-worker was suppose to bring a date too

2 my cousin, her husband & son flew all the way up from FL to be at the wedding but the day of the wedding my cousins husband and son got sick the day of the wedding

Yes, I had 8 people 'Not Show'.

1. My stepmother cousin and her Aunt. I was married on a Saturday and they said they thought it was that Sunday. I believe that it was an honest mistake and they did send a gift.

2. A co-worker called and said that she 'couldn't make it' the day before my wedding. After I gave head count. No gift.

3. My MIL's friends. 2 of them. They sent a gift but didn't cover their plates. No good excuse.

4. DH Cousin's Boyfriend. But they more than covered the plate.

THIS ONE P'd ME OFF

5. My cousin. He RSVP'd w/ a date (even though he doesn't have a significant other). Then he didn't show. But the part that pissed me off the most is that his siblings and my Aunt (his mom) all came and no one said anything to me. Now months have passed and he still never called or anything. I didn't realize he wasn't there until the day after my wedding. I still have no idea why he didn't show. One of our other cousins said she heard a rumor that a pipe burst in his basement. WHATEVER!

If my cousin came to my wedding and could not afford to give me a gift or cover his plate, I would never care. He's my cousin and having him there means so much more to me. But for someone to be rude enough to not show when you have to pay $$$ for them to attend. That is just wrong! And then to NOT EVEN CALL. I got married 4 months ago and still haven't heard from him.

I would also like to add that I had someone bring their 2 (NOT INVITED) TEENAGE sons to my wedding. So that took the place of 2 seats. I am still pissed about that too.

Thanks for letting me have my vent fest.......lol

I had 0.

But if had up to 10 people no show, they weren't going to charge me. My hall had a 10 person no show policy.

We had 4 no shows. Technically, 2 did call 2 days before the wedding because their baby daughter had pneumonia. (Can't fault them for that.) The other 2 were supposed to be dates of our friends. They decided to come single. One of my friends actually said that she just didn't feel like entertaining anybody at the wedding, so she came solo. I wanted to hand her the bill for her no show that we paid for and saying 'I just don't feel like paying for your guest either'.
