Married Ladies RE: Your wedding day look

Original post by Espo22

I am curious to see if everybody was happy with their decisions. Such as hair, make up, shoes, DOJ, dress and etc. I guess since during the planning we all were confused about some things, torn between 2 ideas. COmfort of shoes over look of shoes for some, subtle make up or dramatic, hair up or hair down and the list goes on. But in the end, were you happy with what you choose or did you wish you would've gone another way.

Such as: doing hair up and not working out day of, or hair down. Doing subtle make up or dramatic and now seeing your pics thinking maybe should've gone another way. Maybe not listening to people and then realizing they were right, or listening to others and not going with what you had in mind and regretting it. Even dress, maybe thinking you should've picked something else.

I guess seeing all these new members and having the same questions we used to have about what would be better and everyone having a difference of opinion on what will be better for day of. Is there anything you would've changed, was there any advice you were given that you thought was wrong. One big one I see on here all the time is airbrush vs regular. On your wedding day were you happy with either decision. We're you happy with your hair?

I loved my make up, and loved my hair up until the reception my curls didn't hold up...I should have carried a can of hairspray. I was also super upset that my dress kept on rising up (cause of the hoop skirt) which showed my feet. But I insisted on wearing the hoop skirt

i am curious, for you girls that hair didnt hold up and curls didnt hold up and fell early on. How was your hair done day of? was it curly iron or rollers was it a combo? I know my hair stylist said the best thing to do is curl it with an iron then you take each curl and pin it up for a bit and this will make the curl last longer.

Jess (Buckley) - I thought you looked gorgeous! I know what you mean - you have such HIGH expectations for a vendor based on previous work and they dissapoint... Especially when they don't listen to YOU, but what THEY think is right, kwim?

On a side note - did you get your wedding day earrings at Good Old Gold? They look just like the ones I had and that's where I got them...

IDK- Dan got em for me as a wedding gift. I honestly have no idea...they're most likely costume. I got a movado watch too and I KNOW he didn't have that kind of $$ to get me both

But yea, I thought it looked really pretty too, its partially my own fault. I should have done a second trial but it didn't break my day...just something I noticed- like monday morning quarterback style

PS- WHEN ARE WE GONNA SEE YOUR WEDDING PICS LADY???!!!!

My hair was curled with a curly iron. I left the salon at 10 a.m. and my ceremony was at 3 p.m. and my reception entrance at 8 p.m. Maybe too may hours inbetween? I don't recall super spraying my hair, so that may be the reason. But I loved loved it up until the reception...Don't know what happened.

no it should've stayed. I had my hair done at 10am, ceremony at 2:30pm, and ch started at 7:30pm and reception ended at 1:30am. It lasted, i even have pics in the hotel at 3am and it was still curly, well i woke up the next day and it was still curly.

I think she also used something in my hair that keeps it curly, its this thing you put through it. I remember she told me about it during the trial, i forgot what its called. Then at the end yeah hairspray was used

i just wanted to say that most of all, i want to look good for my FH - i want to impress him, i want him to say wow this is the most beautiful i have ever seen her.....and no matter what i end up looking like, if he looks at me a certain way, i know that i will be happy with the way it all turned out - totally cheesy but its true.....im sure all of you wow'ed your DHs

YES! That is all I cared about too. I didn't even care about everyone seeing my hair/makeup/dress on here or IRL bc of this - I just cared about what DH thought

And since my boobs looked fabulous that day ( I am small chested ) I could have worn a paper bag on my head and he still would have though I looked hot

I get to the altar on the most important spiritual day of my life and my darling future husband said 'wow, nice rack' and once we got in teh limo he said ' where did those come from!'

I loved my hair being up which I don't wear up at all.
My make up- I don't wear make up so I liked that as well.
My colors were different non traditional colors.
I loved my center pieces.

Overall I can't think of anything I would change. My day was just the way I wanted it to be different.

yeah i really want to wow him.....it doesnt help that my FH sees brides ALL the time when he works weekends doing the DJ thing....and i know he isnt lying when he tells me that most of them are 'trainwrecks' b/c when i came to LIW i was shocked at how many pretty brides there were....i guess NJ has some ugly brides just kidding

but anyway, most guys dont really see brides - my FH has seen a bride almost every week since he's like 17 and he's 26! almost 10 years of brides hahaha.....

so yeah, i need to WOW him

i loved my look!! i didnt want to be all crazy done-up and bridal looking. i wanted simple elgance and I worried about every little piece I bought. my DOJ, haircomb, shoes everything came together-- I was shocked!

do i think i could have went more dramatic with my makeup? yes. do i regret it? no. I think I looked like me (and i wear very little makeup). I dont look washed out and I hope my pro-pics come out just as nice as the non-pro.

DH tells me how beautiful I looked that day and that is all I need to know that I did good

I normally get my curls done and at the end put a whole can of spray and it stays even to the next day...my stylist put a little but I completely forgot to spray more at home. So angry. I feel like you plan for this day that nothing should go wrong, I guess I planned but didn't prepare..if you know what I mean.

Amanda, Danielle, and Denise! Thank you guys SOOOO much!!!

I am so NOT a hot piece of asss! Thank you!!!

and p.s. I'm listening to a mix CD right now and it's all people's wedding songs - it was a favor - and I HATE Josh Groban. There I said it. It feels good. His voice makes me shudder for some reason.

I loved my hair, makeup, dress, shoes, accessories and everything else from that day!!! My wedding was exactly how I have always envisioned it to be. I wouldn't have changed a thing.

The best advice I can give future brides is to research everything, go to meetings with vendors knowing exactly what you want, bring pictures if possible, listen to all the advice everyone is giving you and decide if what they are suggesting is something that you want to incorporate into your wedding. Follow your instincts and you won't have any regrets. This is your special day - do what works best for you - no matter how non-traditional it might be!!

So reading all of these responses and looking at pictures of all the beautiful brides --- this just goes to show that WE are our own worse critics.

Now if I can just remember that in the next few weeks.

Oh and Jenn (LuvMyAlfonse) I hate Josh Grobin Too!

eh, i talk myself out of this all the time, but I didn't LOVE my dress. I kept trying to make it look like what I thought I would love, and I just never loved it. I got sick of trying dresses, and didn't want my mom to spend a lot of money. I should have probably gone with the $3k Alvina Valenta dress I tried on first, but totally talked myself out of it b/c I knew she'd insist on paying for the whole thing. and I HATED strapless dresses, but in the end they probably look better on me than my dress did.

liked my hair but the curls fell pretty quickly, and with my dress I should have worn it up but i'm just not comfortable with it all up - it feels so not me. Loved my makeup, veil, and hairpins but didn't love it all together with the dress. hated my shoes but had no choice because they ordered my dress too short.

blah blah complain etc. in the end of course it doesn't matter, but since you asked...

I think you looked gorgeous Silvana!!! I loved your dress/veil and IMO, your hair looked great!!!

Re: Married Ladies RE: Your wedding day look

Overall I was very happy with my look. I LOVED what Rosanna did with my hair and Kacey was originally supposed to do my makeup but then Zoraida stepped in and she did a wonderful job. The makeup and hair stayed in place until 4 am!!!

DOJ was a gift from my parents from the Phillippines and I was so pleasantly surprised that I loved it! Usually, my parents have different taste than I do but they chose something that was classic and not too big. I will definitely be wearing it on special occassions.

I wish I had worn my 2nd dress longer.I feel like there were no pictures that did it 'justice.' Just some dancing photos etc. I am thinking of doing a day after shoot with the dress.

My only other gripe is that I am allergic to mosquito bites. I did everything in my power (skin so soft lotion everyday, stayed indoors after it rained (prime time bug time) and then TWO days before the wedding I got huge big bites on my arm and my back. You can see it in pictures, looks like big bruises.
