Married Ladies - What went wrong on your day ? long

Original post by imas98

I was just thinking about the little things that went wrong on our wedding day and was curious about everyone else ?? I always thought I'd freak out if something went wrong on our wedding day but I was so happy that I seriously didn't care.

Here are mine (most are so unimportant that only I noticed) :

1- I made my hair appointment for 9:30 & when I showed up at the salon they had it down as 10am (not a big deal because I factored in extra time) so I wound up starting around 9:45 instead

2- they gave me the wrong flowers and on my way to meet DH for before pictures the woman comes running down the stairs with the right ones lol

3- my mom was 30 minutes late for pictures and we had a very tight schedule (less than an hour for all family shots)

4- DH's father never wore his boutonniere we got him

5- the rose petals were thrown almost in a pile instead of on the sides of the aisle like I asked for

6- no one threw the rice (eco-fetti) that was passed out. I wanted a cool shot of it flying too.

7- the band didn't play our whole 'play list'

8- the ties on my bustle kept breaking

9- the cake had little sea shells on it when I specifically said 'no shells'

10- The hall didn't serve the chocolate covered strawberries I thought we were getting (I had them on the menu so people actually noticed this ooops)

1. I never made plans to get the flowers to the guys , so my videographer took them over (I loved him!)

2. The DJ didn't get the entrance songs right (they asked me for the songs as I was about to be announced because they never got the fax....not sure why they wouldn't have called and asked a bit before my wedding had already started!)

3. The DJ didn't play songs that we had marked as absolutely play

4. My cake wasn't decorated with flowers (they were on the side)

5. I forgot my cake topper at home in NC

6. Oh, and it rained so I didn't get my beach pictures

We still had a great day though.....no vendor can ruin that!

Re: Married Ladies - What went wrong on your day ? long

The only things that went wrong on our day was that:

1. We were late getting ready. I went running and made myself late, the hair and makeup artists were on time but no one was awake to let them in, so we all got started with hair and makeup late. Therefore, there was less time for formals.

2. The 'big reveal' got screwed up. My husband and I wanted to do the pictures before the ceremony, so I arrived at Timber Point, went upstairs to the bridal suite, and waited until they told me it was OK to come down. I came down, there was my husband...chatting to the photographer, who didn't seem to know what was going on. So there were no pictures of us seeing each other for the first time, and I was a bit, uh, annoyed but trying very hard to hide it in the pictures that were taken. However, there's a really great shot of my husband coming in the door of the bridal suite and grinning at me as I stand in front of a mirror--maybe I'll pretend that's the big reveal! Here's that shot. I adore it because we both look so much in love. A lot of the other formals we felt silly and were trying not to laugh, etc. We very silly and happy all day.

3. the 'Here Comes the Bride' banner got left behind in our apartment. There went $60!

4. No one threw any confetti when we walked back down the aisle! I really wanted that shot, and I got my husband to fold all the petal cones. Then it was raining when we left, so we couldn't do it then, and besides we were the last people who left, pretty much. So no confetti shot.

5. and this is more for my mom: she spent a lot of time making a cake stand (she baked our cheesecake) which was on little feet so there was room for roses. She bought those little water reservoirs so the roses wouldn't die, and the stems were supposed to go underneath the cake stand. The people in the kitchen at Timber Point took off the water reservoirs and stuck the roses right into the cake! My mom didn't finish the stand nicely because she thought you wouldn't see it with the roses, but we did until I got them to put fabric around it, and her lovely cake got holes poked in it. That was sad. Still, it looked lovely, and tasted great.

OMG, you got duct-taped??

That's funny, I had the exact same issue with my dress--too small in the bust, too big in the waist, but it wasn't so bad and I didn' t need duct tape.

Hey, like you said, the important thing is that you're married to your husband. The silly mishaps are things we can laugh about later. And you will have a GREAT story to tell with the duct taping!

Posted by billandme
I had to get duct taped into my gown.....LITERALLY! My dress was altered too small so I couldn't wear a bra and it barely did up, BUT it was loose around my rib cage, so on with the tape! I was FUMING! ....... but all I could do that morning was shrug it off.......

Hmm little things went wrong but it didn't seem to matter to us...June 2nd was the best day of our lives! The day does go by very fast...we just wish time stood still a little longer that day.

1) Tux place gave the wrong tie to one of the groomsmen....guys fixed it before the ceremony...so I was told after

2)Photographer wasn't my first choice...he was a bit annoying and made us feel rushed at some points....the proofs came out amazing though!

3)Our ring bearer made my worst fears come true...he was screaming and trying to walk around during our mass....it actually didn't bother me and all I could do was laugh with my DH...but I did know that was going to happen!

4) My parents were suppose to walk into Stacy's Mom...the DJ didn't do that

5) Our entrance song wasn't the version we requested...again didn't seem to matter..everyone was cheering and clapping when we entered the reception room.

6) Extra 15 mins of 'down music' because my annoying Aunt complained to the DJ that the music was too loud...DH fixed that quickly though and the rest of the night everyone was up dancing!

I guess we were lucky it was just the little things!

I have the best story ever: MY FH pushed too hard on the cake when he was cutting it and IT FELL ON THE FLOOR!
I did not get upset for a second: It is just a cake, he said he was trying to get a bigger piece for me

Re: Married Ladies - What went wrong on your day ? long

I have to start by saying by far It was the Best Day of our life and our wedding was so beautiful, we couldnt ask for more. Even though a few things went wrong, nothing in the end ruined our day but I do have to wonder about a few vendors especially the one we spent two hours at the night before our wedding because of errors and things were still wrong with the florist
1. Flowers never arrived at the hotel, they were over two hours late, florist would not take Docs call when they did open, finally she gets through and they say they couldnt find the room, we didnt give a room number, well hello, we were there for 2 darn hours the night before, just were we didnt want to be the night before our wedding and we personally gave her the room number.
2. The flowers were delivered, they then dropped them off and ran off, never called us or anything so now we leave for our portraits without the flowers.
3. Flowers and branches on pews which we paid alot of money for were 100 % wrong. I had white birch stick 4-6 feet high with flowers and white bow, what they gave me 1-2 inch white sticks with small clumps of flowers, when i saw that i wanted to screen real loud, but couldnt as I was walking down the aisle when I noticed, have yet to call my disaster florist.
4. 1933 Packard blew a gasket and broke down, we did our pictures before, so when the groom picked me up there was so much white smoke, it was the funniest thing we have ever seen, but then we almost didnt make it to the chateau briand for portraits, it took 10 times to start and blew smoke all the way, broke down right in front of the chateau, but they had one hour to get us another car and they did..we were sad not to have our car, but were happy to have anything at the point with air conditioning too it was like 95 degress outside.
5. The cake was not the cake we ordered, long story plus it was very dry.

As brides and grooms say, these were funny things yet sad, some were major vendor problems others acts of god which people made good on, we had the time our our life for sure.

Re: Married Ladies - What went wrong on your day ? long

Everything was perfect but a few things went wrong that I didn't let bother me.

1. I asked my cousin (her in-laws own a florist) to make the bo-k's, and decorate my house and the church. She was also in my bridal party. Well, she is not in one picture at my house because she went to the church to set up.

2. Her husband (who was also in our bridal party) was supposed to pick up her 4 kids that were in my bridal party to bring them to the church. And he was late, causing me to be late because I had to make sure they were all there.

3. My cousin's husband didn't come to the city to take pictures because he had to take care of their 1 month old daughter (child #5 LOL).

4. Being that we were late to the church, we got to the city late. So we missed most of our cocktail hour. And then still had to rush to take family pictures.

5. The cake didn't look like the picture I gave them but still looked gorgeous.

1. The organist was 1/2 hour late for our ceremony - so the ceremony started 1/2 hour late

2. It rained and I didn't get my beach pics

3. I stepped on my dress going back down the aisle w/ DH. Every picture that was taken at that moment is of me making a face as I almost trip!

4. The best man speak wasn't the greatest - to say the least!

5. Tux place forgot to give my dad suspenders - my neighbor had to run out and go pick them up.

Nothing that bad!

Here is one of the pics of me stepping on my dress!

Hmmm lets see I do have a few here:

1. Felt sick the night before and woke up with a 101 fever and couldn't breathe out of my nose. I convinced myself all day that it was just allergies. My DOC was feeding me Benedryl. Thank God for the body's ability to create adenelyn! I was deathly ill by the day after the wedding though. Turned out to be a nasty cold.

2. Bridal Shop altered ALL of the BM's dresses incorrectly. DOC pinned all of there bustles so I really didn't notice.

3. Florist forgot one of the GM's boutinerier's. Wasn't a big deal bc DOC called and had it delivered to the RH.

4. We got really beautiful pics at OWG but I wish we took advantage of the view at VYC and got some pics of DH & I at night outside. That was totally my fault bc I told the photog that after the ceremony all pics need to be candid.

All in all we had incredible weather and everything turned out great. No complaints and I am glad it's over with

Re: Married Ladies - What went wrong on your day ? long

We had the most amazing day! Looking back, I can think of things that went wrong, and they upset me now, but that day - nothing bothered us at all

1- my bm was over 2 hours late to my mom's house for hair/makeup!!!! She's habitually late, so I told her 10 instead of 11. I called her 3 times - didn't pick up . She shows at 1:00! It wasn't a huge deal, she just wound up getting her hair done last.

2- photographer showed up too early - got hair & make-up shots but it was too early for me to get dressed, so they left to get pics of DH getting ready. Well, DH wasn't home, he was getting a haircut (yes, 2 hours before the limo), so photographer just left! Have no idea what he did between 3 and 4:30.

3- florist forgot the throwaway bouquet. We were giving it to my grandparents after they won the anniversary dance (yes, it was fixed ). So very last second, I had to grab one of the bm bouquets instead.

4- drunk SIL jumped on DH (her brother) to hug him and destroyed his bout before we even took pics! So the close up bout pic we have is of one sad looking flower! Never even noticed until DH told me the next day! Lesson: get a back-up bout!

5- during the processional my mom's SO wheeled down my grandma to the inside of the first row. My grandparents then walk down and proceed to sit IN THE FIRST ROW - ***?! After my parents walked me down, they would barely move over so my own mom could sit!!!!! She was p.o.'d. And because of this, my step-mom, who I love dearly, had to sit in the second row all by herself. Again, didn't find out until after, but it still makes me mad.

6- DJ forgot to introduce one of the bp couples! Skipped right over them and introduced the MOH & BMs instead! None of us could get anyone's attention in time to stop it . After our intro, they ran out and joined the rest of the bp just as we were going through the arch - some of the guests were a little confused lol. I am still really upset about this

7- We had asked FIL to say grace, since my grandpa was saying the hebrew blessings over the challah and the wine. Figured it would be short and sweet. Well, FIL & MIL apparently planned this for months without telling anyone - they freaking did a roast of DH, taking turns telling embarrassing stories -

Can you tell how happy we were? It felt like we went on forever. It has taken me a LONG time to get past this one. My mom is still horrified lol.

Not much went wrong on my day , but what did go wrong , flubbed up the rest of the day ,, Although i was calm as a cucumber , no matter what i was getting married..

1- hair & makeup showed up almost a hour late,,
2- the limo was 1 hour late , our church was at 3pm & we didnt get there until 3:15. DH & the men were supposed to arrive at 2 om & the limo was no where to be found,, Nice,,

Other than those 2 things , of couse which led to us not being able to take pics where we wanted, oh & the limo forgot to pick up my mom 1/2 way to the hall,, Basically they s u c k e d ,, Big time

Re: Married Ladies - What went wrong on your day ? long

I can honestly say there were very minor things, but here they are:

1) Day before the wedding all the GM's went to pick up the Tux and I get a call from a co-worker saying my boss (Who was in my wedding) brought his tux into the office and his shirt looks piss yellow . Now I got Ivory, but they gave us the wrong shade of it. No biggie, shirts were delivered to the hall first thing in the AM and everyone was perfect.

2) We picked a different entrance song for our Mom's to come into and this was something we both could not wait for (Was a little inside joke to have Tom Jones 'She's A Lady', well standing there getting ready to giggle and they start playing the BP entrance song which was a loud, fast club song .

Other then that Perfecto!

I loved our wedding day!! but here were a few minor:

* Wasn't thrilled with my BoK or but I got over it
*MILs BoK was not delivered to her house but delivered to the church but whoever dropped it off at the church never told anyone. Thank god the Deacon came out afterwards and was like whose is this? So she had none for beginning shots or walking down the isle
*I never got a throw away BoK but my wonderful Maitre'D at the Milleridge created one for us, it was like it never happened!
*Limo didn't arrive at the time we specified but thankfully I live about 2 minutes from our church
*They couldn't get our elvis song we wanted for the garter removal to work for some reason but they recovered quickly

NONE of those things actually even really bothered me the day of!

Nothing really... Just the make-up woman was running late and took forever, but I added time to the 'getting ready' part anyway so it worked out.
