When I first started these boards, I didnt join the discussions at first. I just kind of read the posts and gathered as much info as I could. But then I felt the brides here were like my friends, and I signed up because I could talk as much wedding as I wanted without boring anyone. But lately, the atmosphere has changed and we all have to watch what we say in fear that some vendor will lash out or worse yet, our post will be deleted. I dont know about the rest of you, but I come here for honest opinions, and I should be able to get one without worrying about being reprimanded. I want to know that if I ask for a recommendation from brides only, that my FM wont be indundated with unwanted vendor mail. I know when I signed up, there were rules and regulations that I agreed to. Vendors should also have rules and regulations that specify they are not to read our boards. We are here to help each other, not ruin businesses. Also, if a bride decides to give something other than a '10' recommendation to a vendor, it shouldnt be deleted because someone isnt pleased with it. Dont get me wrong, I completely understand regulating hearsay, because that really isnt fair to anyone. But does anyone agree with me on this?

I completely agree with you 100%. If you ever want my honest opinion on anything, please email me. I no longer have confidence in the FM system, so I will not be giving information out in that manner anymore. But, if you ever want to discuss the Hamlet or anything else with me, feel free to send me an email

I agree. If a vendor performs badly we should be able to say so.
Those vendors work off of word of mouth. They screw up they should pay the price. That's the power of a group like this. Keeping vendors in check.
This is why I think getting together more often is useful. Honestly share what vendor really screwed up. Bride reviews should give poor F scores for bad service.
I am still confused why we can't state the facts. Example: I asked for yellow/red roses (bicolor) and I got red and yellow roses. Even though I gave an example rose and confirmed three times. To top it off said vendor was late to the prearranged time and the product (flowers) were wilted. The attitude I got was short and rude and I was very disappointed in them. (mind you this isn't me. I haven't used my vendors yet)
If it's factual then we should be able to post it!

I totally agree. I like you, just read other posts for quite a while and just recently started posting. I must have missed most of the drama recently (thank goodness) since I'm clueless about some recent posts. However, I hope that we can still respect each other and help each other out during our planning process.
Re: Maybe I'm making a big deal about nothing.....
I totally agree as well. I mean why bother asking how a certain vendor is if we cant hear the good with the bad.
Maybe the vendors should use this as a chance to become '10s'.

i agree. vendors should not be allowed to see these posts. maybe there is a way to password-protect the BHB boards so that only brides can post on it. And no vendors posing as 'newbies'. Maybe, say after a certain amount of posts that makes it certain you aren't a vendor...you can enter a password-protected area to be FREELY able to discuss personal opinions and ideas on vendors.....
just an idea on how to recitfy this situation... I would hate to see this web site closed down b/c of all the continuous problems!

You said this so well, DivaBride. thanks!!
since I started on here last December, I've seen a NOTICEABLE change in what goes on. That is only 3 months!! While its really helped me in a lot of aspsects, it also has me questioning things FAR too much of late. I am disappointed in a lot of what goes on here, and really do NOT need the drama, esp the vendor drama.

Re: Maybe I'm making a big deal about nothing.....
Very well put, divabride!
I think this is a very important issue, and I have a few suggestions:
I used to visit a website/forum called diamondtalk when I was helping my Dad find a diamond for his fiance. It had tons of great information. But before you could participate, you needed to register with your credit card. I was very reluctant to do this and wrote them asking why my credit card information was necessary when they do not charge you for anything. The explanation was that they needed the information to have their members verify who they were. They had problems in the past with vendors posing as regular members to push their business.
Maybe this is something that LIW could do.
And when it comes to vendors sending brides unsolicited emails and FMs due to a post on any board other than the Vendor Board, perhaps LIW could have something in their sign up process with the vendors prohibiting them from doing this. And if they do send an unsolicited email or FM, thus breaking the rules, they can be asked to leave.

The only plm I see with this, is that the vendors support the site $$$, keeping it free for us.. so how can LIW police them, when that's how they make their livings? (JMO)

pookiesangle - I see your point.
Can someone enlighten me as to what the current procedure is? When you join LIW, does that mean that your email, FM etc. is available for the vendors to contact you by? Or is there a little box that you can uncheck if you don't want unsolicited information?
