McCain chose his VP

McCain chose his VP

And its the governor of Alaska- Sarah Palin- she's been in office for 2 years.

Any thoughts?

These are my thoughts (copied and pasted from the NW board )

He picked a woman to draw in Hillary supporters. Smart move. I'm no McCain fan at all, she may very well be qualified, I don't know ( I'm starting my research on her now). But this was a very well crafted, strategic, purely political move.

Granted, they're all political moves, but this is like a flashing neon light political move.

I have to agree with that. Smart move on his part.

I am going to have to disagree with the previous posters, this is pandering at it's WORST and most Hillary supporters will be smart enough to know that.

In addition, it will be kind of hard for his campaign to continue to attack Obama for his 'lack of experience'...

They have an article on her on AOL- seems like she could go either way- I think you are completely right about it being a good political move for John McCain though

Nah, I don't think it steals his thunder at all, Obama's all good.

This is all a game (politics and the conventions). I'm sure Obama will put a smart move of his own come RNC time.

someone on NW posted that either way its history in the making- a woman vp or a black president- pretty cool!

I agree. I think it's a stupid move. She has hardly any experience in politics as far as I have seen. He should have picked someone with more experience, someone who could fill any holes he had in his own experience (like Obama did) and concentrate on picking someone who is going to help him lead, not just get votes.

I never said it would WORK (I guess it could on undecideds, ya never know) I just said that this is was a crafted (smart as in crafted) move on McCain's part specifically designed to do just that, it's his INTENT, it may not have the effect he wants, I guess that remains to be seen.

She has NOTHING in common with Hillary fundamentally, she's super conservative, I think it's more for your middle american women who aren't that schooled in the finer points and just want to see a woman in office.

Yes, it might work for them. But I still think it's a dumb move I mean, would you hire someone at your office JUST because someone said, hey we need more women around here, even if the woman had NO experience????

hmmm not sure how you meant that- but McCain did have the option to leave after 2 years- but would not until EVERYONE left with him... now dont get me wrong, I'm not a fan of his- (or Obamas) I just think thats amazing that someone would do that

He did and I respect him as a person, but that does not mean I have to vote for him for president. Quite frankly, I used to like him but he has sold out....

I wouldn't, but remember, his party had to back this decision, they realize and understand the public relations aspect of him choosing a women...that's what I meant by smart, not smart as in correct.

Also, the situation you reference happens every single day in the workplace. It is what it is.
