And its the governor of Alaska- Sarah Palin- she's been in office for 2 years.
Any thoughts?

Could it really get any worse than it is right now? I suppose it could but I do think both candidates are better than our current president.

While Mccain was my second choice for republicans, as well as Obama being my second choice for Democrats, I really hope whoever gets voted in can bring the country back up. In general I find politicians to be very sneaky and sleezy. I think they are all full of crap and make empty promises just to get votes. Its too bad!

Re: McCain chose his VP
interestingly enough - Palin is the ONLY candidate on the ENTIRE TICKET with executive experience. it's one things to make laws for the country and it's a completely different thing to run a government
brilliant move making her VP - she's an amazing woman and I am proud to vote for the ticket. this is a change i am willing to support.

How is she a change from our current administration? She's SUPER conservative, pro-life, has severe conflict of interest concerNing McCain's whole offshore drilling agenda.....oil again.......

Re: McCain chose his VP
the impression i get about obama that makes me nervous is that i always hear middle aged white men with a lot of money saying that they are going to get screwed if he becomes president - and that anyone who makes a lot of money would be an idiot to vote for him - so that makes me nervous, my FH isnt a CEO of a company or anything like that - so of course we dont have that kind of money but the money he pays in taxes is more than my salary and i make a decent living - of course i hope that he continues to do well and that he will make more money each year - and we have some investments, so that makes me nervous.....but i dont know enough about economics to really understand it.....i think it would only hurt like super rich people not people like us....but what if we get super rich?
im editing to add that maybe someone could better explain this so i understand it better - this is just based on what i hear at the water cooler

Let me start off by saying I totally respect your opinion and find this healthy debate to be a much needed distraction on as very slow Friday at work.
That being said, your statement reminds me of how, back in 2000, everybody was trumping Bush's MBA as making him the most qualified candidate. Again, just my opinion, but the last 8 years have proven him to be anything but....

that is a little insulting i don't think McCain was a nutbag after he decided to stay in that prison until all of his men were leaving with him. I call that a hero and a good human being!!! not a nutbag

Ok I will be the first to admit that I do not educate myself enough on this to make comments BUT I can say it was nice to listen to a speach(es) by people who are well spoken, articulate and can pronounce BIG words!

i took the comment to mean that how could his experience not have a psychological effect on him.....like, how could that experience not have a negative effect on someone - just like the soldiers who go off to war and do and see horrible things - that DEF has an effect on lots of people, ive seen it first hand - it doesnt mean you arent hero but those kinds of experiences can really change someone and not always for the better, some people get really messed up from experiences like that, it could be very traumatizing...

I agree with you, Catie. What I think shcole might have been trying to say - I could be 100% wrong on this however - is that the 5 years in a cage turned him INTO a nutbag, that the effects of actually being prisoner of war did that. Not sure.
I do not think he's a nutbag, I think he has a good head on him but I am against some of his policies. But I wouldn't call him a nutbag.

FH will be happy - he supports McCain and was telling me that he thought she would be a good choice this am.
I support Obama - we dont talk about it
same here. FH is for McCain and I'm all for Obama. we try to talk about it but it never gets anywhere
