Mets vs. Yankees -- The Countdown is ON!!

When we did make it into the 2000 World Series, it was exciting for us Met fans, but we also lost, thats why I dont like to remember it.

they only get harrassed if the provoke one of the met fans, or if they are wearing a yankee jersey when the mets are playing another team

i've seen yankee fans act 10 times worse than anything i ever saw at shea. I was there in the bleachers when the Yanks were playing the Texas Rangers in the playoffs and they harrassed some guy wearing a Ranger hat -- they eventually took the guy's hat and threw it on the field and the crowd cheered -- disgusting!!!

I was REALLY happy for you when you made it into the series!

And I want to point out that in the two previous years, the Yankees won in 4 games.

When we played the Mets, we won in 5. I always felt that that showed a lot of talent on the Mets' part. That may be 'bfd' for you guys, but the Mets gained a LOT of respect from me that year.

I'd rather give the season away and build up my farm... than take it all the way just to be denied by a AAA club with a cocky 24 year old pitcher at the end.

Just shows money can't buy everything. This weekend is a perfect example... how good pitching (Los Angeles / Gagne) will beat good hitting every time.

But that's my point!

The Dodgers played better this weekend. Am I sad that my team lost? Yes. Am I going to ***** at Dodger fans because they lost? No. Am I going to complain that the Mets won and we lost? No.

GEEZ!

Annoys the crap out of me that people PURPOSELY try to get under Yankee fans' skin with stupid BS comments JUST because we happen to be a good team. Our best guys are Farm Guys - Jeter, Williams, Posada - ALL farm guys. And don't get me started on A-rod because I didn't ASK for him, so don't blame me for him. I didn't ask for Giambi either. You want to give me Tino and Soriano back I'd GLADLY take them!

And I can't stand the Yankees' pitching staff! They're not that good! I've said that for years!
You know what else? I can't stand Roger Clemens - He's OVERRATED and I'm glad he's gone!

Look, just because your team's owner doesn't spend the money that HE HAS wisely don't take it out on us!

I've been too swamped at work today to keep up here.. but just in review of this thread, I am NOT surprised at the way its gone..

I agree 100% with everything you said here. And I've tried saying it countless times, but you did so far more eloquently and logically than I ever could

I have said it 10000 times before and I'll say it again .. the 'money bought our championships' argument that is thrown up at Yankee fans all the time is soooo incredibly lame. And I truly wish someone could come up with something a little more substantial to use whenever conducting the Mets/Yankee debates on these boards (or anywhere else for that matter)

As for PrincessRose's informal survey, her results are interesting. I know from personal experience that my Mets-loving FH would DEFINITELY prefer to see his team in the post season than going down or finishing at the bottom of the standings.. and I couldn't agree more.

And I certainly wouldn't classify the Yankees as 'chokers' in any sense of the word, even given the losses they've suffered in the past few World Series. They lost, they were beat by the better team. They played hard...

'Choking' is a term only reserved for Suxx and Cubbie fans.

Felicia, I agree with you 'money doesnt buy championships' I blame these players who feel they should get paid the 9 million a year and the idiot owners who do give it to them,

I feel it should be a cap like in football.

Felicia, the reason you guys get so hot when I bring up the fact, not the opinion, but the fact that the Yankees 'buy' their championships, is because it is true.

This is not a minority opinion, this is not an opinion of the Met fans or the Red Sox fans alone. This is an opinion of all fans of MLB, except the Yankee fans.

How do you account for the fact that year after year, the ratings for the World Series continally drops? because people are tired of seeing the same thing year in and year out.

These are not opinions, these are facts and the Yankee fans just do not want to see the forest for the trees.

That's why I never get involved with your WWF conversations, and why I stayed out of most Mets/Yankees conversations for awhile. It makes me too angry and I can't stay involved in my work.

I just think it's kind of obnoxious to get someone angry just because you can.

Arguments in general affect me negatively, don't think it's just you. But I do tend to avoid your threads, that's true.

I guess I've just got better things to thrill me than the annoyance of other people, and that's why you'll notice I have NEVER said anything negative about the Mets, and 99% of what I HAVE said about the Mets has been respectful and full of Praise for them and the loyalty of their fans.
