The Mets are looking really good lately -- 2 1/2 out of first, with a nice sweep over the weekend!!

Now we face the Evil Empire over 2 consecutive weekends!

Hey Jeter, Giambi, A-Rod and all the rest -- BRING IT!!!!!!!

Can you Yankee fans explain to me why you go to a Subway Series game at Shea Stadium? Thats the Mets house, why cant you just stick to Yankee Stadium if your a YANKEE FAN??

I can't speak for ALL Yankee fans - just myself. DH got us the tickets for our anniversary and the Saturday night game at Shea is two days before our anniversary. Believe you me, I would rather be going to Yankee Stadium, but I am certainly not complaining.

And if money bought WS rings, then the Orioles and the Red Sux should have their fare share of wins. I live in MD, and it is a huge bone of contention down here that Peter Angelos spends a fortune on the O's and they always suck anyway. He is more hated down here than Steinbrenner ever was in NY.

well let me ask you this - the yankees have choked in the big game 3 years in a row -- what does that make them??

Please clarify, do you mean the big game as in the World Series or in the playoffs? Because they didn't make it to the WS in 2002.

As far as the comments later in this post about the Dodgers series this weekend, the Yankees should have won on Friday, I'll give you that. But then a rookie beat the Dodgers on Saturday and the Dodgers beat Contreas last night. Big deal on beating Contreas. The Royals can beat this guy, he sucks. So the Dodgers should be able to beat him. And the Yankees hitting was not silent yesterday. They still scored 4 runs. Not like they were shut out. With a different pitcher on the mound 4 runs might have won it for them.

This should be an interesting series this weekend. The Mets are playing well. I'm not overly impressed with them only being 2 1/2 games out because the division is just awful. But they are at .500 right now and that's a decent enough team to give the Yankees a good game, and perhaps even get a win or 2. You never know in baseball. Plus the Mets have 3 pitchers right now they are putting up EXCELLENT numbers. Then again the Yankees do have the best record in baseball so technically they should be able to win the series this weekend.

All I can say is Let's Go Yanks!!

It will be better for you guys. I think the Yankees are throwing that rookie again, Halsey, then Contreas, then Moose. Halsey was incredible against the Dodgers but we'll see how he does his second time out, Contreas-give me a break. I hope and pray the Yankees get rid of this guy. I'm not looking for another #1 starter, but Contreas is just awful. He's doing better then he did at the beginning of the season, but he's still allowing 4-5 runs a game. You never get a great outing out of him. And Mussina has had his struggles this year so I'm not sure how he'll do. Who do the Mets have scheduled to pitch?

All I can say is this, thank god the Mets are doing well because if not, then all that money I spent on tickets would not be worth it. I LOVE seeing a good game between the Mets and Yanks. When it's easy, it's boring.

And I would just like to remind everyone that had the Yankees won against the Diamondbacks, Enrique Wilson would be dead. He was scheduled on the flight that crashed in the Rockaways, but decided on an earlier one since there was no reason to stick around. I don't know, I see that as being a good enough reason to lose the series.

Brown is scheduled for the Saturday game but they are not sure, he might still be on the DL

I love it how the Yankee Fans continually downplay the divison that holds the CURRENT World Series Champ. Yeah you know... that AAA team that beat the crap outta you guys last year.

The Marlins were good last year. You can't tell me they are as good this year. I'm not trying to downplay the division, I'm an honest baseball fan here. Ever listen to Mike and the Mad Dog? even they say that division is not a difficult division this year. I mean the Braves are in 4th. They are not even competing this year.

This is not me being a Yankee fan. This is me telling you the truth. If you know anything about me you'll know that I am not one of those Yankee fans that hate the Mets. Actually I hate the whole 'rivarly' between the Yankees and the Mets. I have the Sox to hate and that's enough for me.

Are you really trying to say that the NL east is a difficult division this year?

the NL East in my opinion is very tough this year in my opinion

The Marlins are not as good, but still a tough team

The Phillies are a tough team

You can never count out the Braves

OK, maybe the Expos aren't that good

Talk about easy -- what about the AL East?

Besides Boston and the Yanks, who's around to give any sort of challenge?

Jenn, I can kind of see your point, but I would be careful as relying on Mike and the Mad Dog as experts. I do listen to the show when I can and Mike is the most biased Yankee fan there is, and Russo is a SF Giant fan but still hates the Mets. But, they have Torre on their show every Friday at 5:05 and each one of them takes turns kissing Joe's rear because they need him for ratings, so they never really knock the Yanks.

They also never knock the Yanks because, in a manner of speaking, Steinbrenner is their boss. YES Network, which carries Mike and the Mad Dog, is owned by Steinbrenner (Don't get me started - I haven't watched a yankee game on TV in AGES!).

And of course, because Mike is a HUGE Yankee fan (biased as he may be).

Mike and the Mad Dog are two of the biggest idiots in all of baseball. Mike said last week he was sooooo looking forward to the Yanks breaking Eric Gagne's consecutive save streak (currently at 81 games - two years long).

Gagne beat them twice... Mike should have been eating crow on Monday. What does he do instead? He talks about Golf all day yesterday, instead of talking about how Matsui totally blew the game for them.

Yes... ain't it obvious that Big Boss Steinbrenner is keeping tabs on what they say (and can't) say?

Talk about bias in its greatest form. If you really want to listen to some good sports talk on the FAN... listen to Joe Beningo late nights. He is a Mets fan... but he is VERY unbiased and when the Mets suck... he flat out says they suck.

Another unrelated case and point, but does relate to the Mike Fatsessa bias.

Why do you think Marv Albert was let go as the Knicks announcer after 30 years of being with them? It wasn't because Dolan was crying poverty. It was because Albert critisized the Knicks bad play repeatedly (basically telling the truth)... and not downplaying enough when the other team made really good plays.

Truly disgusting, and this gives me even more of a reason to not stand the Knicks. Thank god the Nets may be coming to Brooklyn. I hear Dolan is actually trying to block that deal from happening.
