Re: Mets vs. Yankees -- The Countdown is ON!!

the NL East in my opinion is very tough this year in my opinion
The Marlins are not as good, but still a tough team
The Phillies are a tough team
You can never count out the Braves
OK, maybe the Expos aren't that good
Talk about easy -- what about the AL East?
Besides Boston and the Yanks, who's around to give any sort of challenge?
Jenn, I can kind of see your point, but I would be careful as relying on Mike and the Mad Dog as experts. I do listen to the show when I can and Mike is the most biased Yankee fan there is, and Russo is a SF Giant fan but still hates the Mets. But, they have Torre on their show every Friday at 5:05 and each one of them takes turns kissing Joe's rear because they need him for ratings, so they never really knock the Yanks.
Not at all trying to imply that the AL East is a hard division. I 100% agree that the Yankees and the Sox are the only good teams in that division. It should have been a harder division this year but some of the teams have fallen flat on their face.
As far as Mike and the Mad Dog go, I agree that they are very biased with the Yankees. But they also are on the Mets station and they have Art Howe on once a week so it's not like they are not kissing the Mets butts every now and then also.
The NL east is an interesting one this year because it's really up in the air. I wouldn't say it's a hard or easy division more of that it's an even division, meaning anyone (except the Expos) could take it. I just wanted to point out that I'm not overly impressed with the Mets being 2 1/2 out, but I am impressed that they are playing .500. In a different division a team playing 500 ball wouldn't be only 2.5 games out. Like in the AL East, the Devil Rays are 2 games under 500 but they are 10 1/2 games out. In the NL central the Astros are 3 games over 500 and they are 5 games out of first place.
