We're trying to pick our last cocktail station and I'm on the fence. Italian is definitely more popular but it's also a bit boring. Every wedding has a pasta/Italian station. Also, we're already doing a Tuscan station with antipasto so isn't Italian kinda repetitive?
Mexican is a bit different and festive for a summer themed wedding. Also, our Mexican station will include seafood dishes whereas our other stations are a bit meat-dominated. But I know Mexican isn't as universally popular, especially with my Italian family.
Here are the stations:
Italian - Pasta with broccoli rabe and sausage, Chicken Scarpiello, Fried calamari (I think I'm forgetting something)
Mexican - Seafood paella, ceviche, fajitas and a Patron Maragarita bar

i would LOVE the mexican station so much more then the italian....every wedding you go to has calamari (mine included) so it would be really nice to have something different!
and who doesnt love patron!

If you are already doing a Tuscan station then I would do a Mexican station.

Thanks so much girls! I agree. Mexican is different and interesting. I think the older people would probably prefer Italian so that's why I'm still a bit torn but I want our CH to be unique!

I selected Mexican because I love fajitas and I just went to a wedding with one and it was super yummy!
But what in the world is a Patron Margarita Bar???

Seems like Mexican is the popular choice!
I agree that it would be a little different, which could be very fun! Not that people compare weddings (at least most of my guests who are from OOT will never have been to one like ours before) but just as an option for something a little festive and summery, Mexican sounds great, especially if you're already having Tuscan.

I would get the Mexican station at most weddings there isn't much Mexican/Spanish food.

im obsessed with mexican food ... but im italian and I know my family would want Italian station.. BUT.... I think Mexican is something you dont get at every wedding and would be a little different. I say go with Mexican!!:)

I think that the Italian is def a safer bet only because you know people will eat that...some poeple dont like paella and ceviche so if nobody eats it, to me its a waste of money.. that said, you know who is coming to your wedding, so if you feel like your family will eat the mexican station then go for it!

Patron is a brand of tequilla....not that I drink it. I can't stand tequilla. But I think a lot of the guests would love it.

Definitely Mexican in this case! A margarita bar alone is worth it LOL. But typically most weddings skew Italian in general, so that's definitely different, and I've been on such a mexican food kick lately that I would love that as a guest.

We had a mexican station at our wedding and it was a hit!!! Everyone kept talking about it. They made burritos and some other stuff.

My FILs would kill me for saying this because they are 100% Italian but my vote is with Mexican! I love both types of food, but that particular Mexican menu sounds more appetizing to me than the Italian!
