Migrain headache sufferers

How often do you get them and what are your symptoms? I have not gone to a doctor but I think that I get them....if its not that then it might be a brain tumor. (Im a bit of a hypocondriac!)

I get one every couple of months. My eyes usually start to ache and my head is usually throbbing, a lot of nausea and I almost always end up throwing up, but I have a sensitive stomach to begin with.

Aw i'm always convinced I have the same thing Unfortunately I think mine are more sinus related (since I've had a few migranes and they are different than the sinus headaches). So far I see an allergist and and ENT doc and take like 4 medicines a day and still get 2 or 3 whoppers per month

I would say to see your regular doctor first and then maybe a neurologist? I'm sure everything is ok though!

I was reading about them online and it says they can come as often as a couple of times a week and last up to 72 hours. This sounds like me.....it *****!!

I get them really bad anywhere from 1-4 times a month ( I know big range). I too have never gone to the doctor. I take an excendrin migrain, and if I'm at home I look myself in my bedroom and make it as dark as possible and just close my eyes until it feels better. I tend to get nauseous, and extreme sensitivity to sounds and light, and I find it hard to focus on anything except how crappy I feel.

Yeah mine sometimes last for more than a day and I just feel so crappy, and it's the worst going to work because I know that I look like crap too

Oh good, I'm glad I'm not the only one who overreacts!!

I get REALLY bad migraines once in a while....like every few months BUT I have frequent headaches when I am really stressed....like tension headaches.

Either way, headaches suck!

I get them reallly bad usually in june...prob about every other day... this past yr i wound up occurring in may instead since the weather was sooo messed up. Mine come from the change in seasons, and whatever pollen or anything else is heavily floating around. At all other times, it occurrs maybe once or twice a month. Was put on a million diff perscriptions that just didnt work with my body so I was sent for a cat scan to make sure it wasnt more severe than a 'simple' migraine.

You may have pain on one side of your head... a throbbing kind of pain... you most likely will be sensitive to light and when you look at light, its like a shooting pain that goes straight to the affected area... you may also see spots before it comes on... i think its called an aura, but not everyone gets that...

Usually tylenol does absolutely nothing to relieve them (ive found at least) so I take excedrine migraine and its my wonder drug...

I think if theres not enough oxygen going to the brain that can be a cause too... and stoves take that out of the air i believe... dont be afraid if they tell you to go for a cat scan... it was soo simple... took about a minute to complete....

i was like that too... i kept telling myself they were gonna find something more severe on there and id have to go for more tests etc etc.... it def is nervewracking... i think they use that as a last resort though... they ask you what you think your triggers are... salt i believe is a big one... so ive cut down on that... keep like a journal of each one you get and try to write down the foods you ate .... you'll also be able to tell if its a seasonal trigger that way...

cut back on the salt to reduce the frequency of migraines and also really for your overall health... ive been using very little salt over the past few yrs and in my case, i def noticed a difference... I cant prevent the horrible ones when spring comes and wrecksss me lol but really, learn about the triggers and see if cutting back helps...

Re: Migrain headache sufferers

I used to get them constantly with the change of seasons as well.
My doctor had me try excedrin... then tylenol with codine...which didnt work... and then prescribed imitrex. It works like a miracle...BUT...has side effects. My throat gets a little sore, my chest gets heavy, and I feel tired when I take it... but nothing is worse then the headache!
