Migrain headache sufferers

Original post by GT143EA

How often do you get them and what are your symptoms? I have not gone to a doctor but I think that I get them....if its not that then it might be a brain tumor. (Im a bit of a hypocondriac!)

I used to get them constantly with the change of seasons as well.
My doctor had me try excedrin... then tylenol with codine...which didnt work... and then prescribed imitrex. It works like a miracle...BUT...has side effects. My throat gets a little sore, my chest gets heavy, and I feel tired when I take it... but nothing is worse then the headache!

On new years day I was at FIL's house and FSIL gave me an imitrex. My headache was gone 15 min. later. It was amazing!! I got tired after I took it too, but I felt fine besides that!

imitrex actually had too much of whatever drug is in it that makes your neck sore... it was like severe swollen glands for me... so then i was put on something that had less of that drug in it and it helped but took forever for my migarine to go away... after hours or of dealin it, you're in such a ****** mood that it doesnt even matter that its gone bc you've been so stressed out with the damn thing

Ive been getting them since sixth grade. I never just get a 'headache', it is always a migraine and they sometimes last for days at a time. My current medication, Mazalt is a lifesaver. I also have to take Vicoden.

Like the others have said, if you are that nervous go have a CAT scan. That way you can ease your mind. Migraines are extremely common in woman so dont let your mind get the best of ya'!

I get severe migraines...sometimes more than 14 headaches a month. I would recommend seeing a neurologist that specializes in headaches. Also it is probably not a really good idea to take prescription medications without talking to your Dr. first. In some rare cases triptans (imirtex) can have very bad cardiac side effects.

I get crazy migraines... lately it was about 1 time a week.. then this week i had a few. b4 that it was like once or twice a month..maybe skipping some months too sometimes. i get them bad too! but never went to a dr or had it checked out. once i went to a dr for being sick and headaches and i had a sinus infection and he tested me for a lot of things allery related.. all came back i had no allergies and he did a cat scan.. i do have a slight deviates septum. but other than that my head has never been check out by a dr. ha ha i sound like a loon!
migraines suck. sometimes they dont go away until you pass out and sleep for a while.. of course thats after taking multiple excedrine, drinking water, and being in the pitch black with no sound at all!

i use to get migraines all the time. At one point i was taking pills everyday just to avoid them. They eventually weined me off of the pill, and now even when i get the slightest headache i take and over the counter pill, but if it gets worse, i then take a prescribed pill.

I would get nassua, sensitive to light and sound, spinning, and an unbelievealbe throbing headache pain that would send me to the floor

first off you should ask your parents and grandparents if they suffer from them, but they are most definately inheritable!

i personally tend to get them from flashing lights (i had to change my route home from college b/c the sun would flicker through the trees), also motion sickness & low blood sugar levels give them to me

I also get slightly naueaus (sp?) and the slightest noise sounds like someones playing the drums on my brain!

Excederin Migraine helps A LOT! But you have to use it carefully, excessive amount of any type of excederin is REALLY bad for your stomach, and also a hot shower where i wash my hair helps a lot

HTH!

I get them. I have imetrex that I take when they are really bad. But other than that I take excedrine migraine. I also try to self treat with coffee since the main ingredient in migrain pills is caffine. But I tend to get them after I drink wine and also around my period. I dunno what happens with my hormones but even on the pill I always get then on day 1, 2, and/or 3 of my period.

I suffer from Migraines about 3-4 times a month. Unfortunately a lot of time I have wine I can almost guarantee to have a migraine. I have been on several medications for them. I am on a new one now and it works the best!!! It is Treximet. I usually feel pain on one side of my head behind my eye and very sensitive to light and sound. Basically the only thing I can do is sleep....when I have one. Good luck.
