Mini-review on CHCC

Original post by Darcy

Ok.... I am going to give you the good, the bad, and the ugly on CHCC. Though most of the ugly is because we had the ceremony there.

Good things, it was beautifully set up and the food was great even though vegan, and the room was great, though alittle too dark. My MD was great!

The bad and ugly

1) I dealt with way too many BMs though, the one I had that day remembered me talking to her about the cake.

2) They lie, lie, lie. And are really annoying. ok let me break that down for you. They tried to convince me it would be too cold to have my wedding outside. HELLO! (people think it is because of other weddings) They also origanally that you can take pics over all their garndens! Not if they are going to have all these other weddings. I could not leave the chaple space. They also lied to my FH/DH and told them that the reason the wedding was behind was because they were waiting on me. I was ready a half hour before hand! So it turns out the real reason we were 15 minutes late starting the wedding was because of them! This also negativly effected the seating of my guests it turns out.

3) The annoying part comes in when my BA and Bm first come in constantly trying to convince me to not have the wedding outside while I am trying to get ready. And... My BA kept coming in saying I had to hurry. it would be a hour before hand! My bridesmaids had to argue with her and say I only had to take my hair out of the curlers for G sake!

4) My BA never smiled. And evertime I said something she did not understand, she would say 'oookkkkk' you know what I mean.

5) They spent way too much energy trying to freak me out. It really peed me off.

Hope this helps!

Thanks Bebalina about for the review. I know I have been second guessing my choice of CHCC, but you have made me feel better. I am actually getting excited too. I keep trying to remind myself what made me love CHCC in the first place. However, I do agree with the other comment that just because someone had a different experience doesn't mean they lied. I am really excited for your big day! What is a bridge cake? I don't like filling so I think I'm not going to have any filling in the top layer and all the others will.

Oh, what room is your CH in? Are you doing the votive candles or slipper basket?

Oh what did you pick for your menu? Come on, spill the beans!

I'm glad I helped you feel a lil calmer about things, but if it wasnt for ppl posting negative reviews, then how else would the rest of us know what to look for. So I thank all of you for that. I'll be sure to keep updating as things progress....

I'm in the Plaza room. And I will not be doing votive candles or a slipper basket.
and I replied to ur FM on the menu selection...boy it was not easy choosing a menu when ur starving like me and my mom were last nite...but im super excited now. and i got to see the golf cart last nite.......itsss sooooooooooooooooooooo cuteeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
and heres what a bridge cake looks like (cept on that bottom piece where u see the couple dancing i'll have a fountain and the bridal party statues they'll match to my colors that day

Re: Mini-review on CHCC

Thanks for all the reviews...I had to see Sharon (BM) recently re: a time change & it was easier for me & FH to go there than to play telephone tag with BM. I find these reviews most helpful b/c it brings things to my attention that i may not have thought of on my own. So far i haven't had any real issues with them other than them not being the best at returning my call.

While I was there I checked out the emerald room, it looked nice. I also asked to see the one'cake book' they have between 4 BM's. I wanted to see what kind of cake was included. They obliged but kept saying that cake selection isn't done until the menu selection and i was way too early. All I wanted to do was see what types of cakes they had to offer in-house & what the additonal fees are so i'm not surprised down the road. Well, my questions were answered

Re: Mini-review on CHCC

I actually went there last night. My first payment was due, and FH and I wanted to show his parents the Emrald room bc they didnt see it yet. I called last week and spoke to JEff and asked him if we can come when the room was set for a wedding- he called me back within an hour and told me to come in the 30th. Come to think of it- was anyone here in the emerald room last night at 8:30??? B/C then I saw your room set up and it looked really pretty!
He seemed kind of busy- trying to host an event- but still took the time to show FI's FH and my mom the room- before the party came in from their CH I guess.
No worries yet......

just want to point out, I did say that the food was great. I had no problems making my menu. I also said most of my issues had to do with the ceremony and the pic taking. Please remember that.

Also, I just found out, there were alot of geese on the premisis. And they were by the pool. And supposedly large amounts of geese doo doo in and around the pool. And my guests walked by there to go to the ceremony outside.

Re: Mini-review on CHCC

I don't know. Actually I was supprised to hear about it, too. I had not heard about it until I was talking to a guest at the wedding and she mentioned it.

Don't get me wrong, people loved my wedding and most people did not know of things that went wrong. And this was the first time someone 'complained' (she is not really one to complain, and I don't think she ment it as a complaint' about the geese.

One of my bridesmaids, who is rather understanding, said that once you get geese you can't get rid of them. I was just suprised they sent the guests that way (they sent me a different way) if there was a geese problem.

Now that I think about it, I think that may have been another reason I could not take my pics else wear. I can't remember. It is all a blur.

I do have a pic of the geese, and once I figure this thing out I will post it. From what I see it is not as 'toxic' looking as my guest described. Though it is rather close up, and not of the whole pool.
