Very important part of Theresa's post - about what an honor it is to be in someone's BP...thats how I looked at it EVERY TIME I've been a bridesmaid...always asking the bride what she needs, what can I do, how can I help... and where the h e ll are my bridesmaids????? I have to put up their pictures in the post office just to find them!

Sorry, now I'm starting to vent too...

I feel that way about pretty much everyone in my bridal party except my sister. I thought they were supposed to at least be excited for me, but it seems like they could give a sh*t half the time. If I could go back and redo one thing in the wedding, it would probably be having just my sister in the wedding. Its not worth the aggravation

Wacky- yes- totally. I learned that weddings, births and deaths bring out the best and worst in people.
My wedding has certainly opened my eyes to those who I will never count on ever! I too, am a very giving person. It's just my nature. Too bad I was giving to the wrong people for so many years

T- hahahahahaaha, coolie kicked on Fridays- halarious!!! I agree w/ you 100%- it is an honor to be asked to be in someone's wedding!!!!!!

I guess I'd rather learn about people's true colors earlier than later (not my BP- they're awesome, they can't do a lot b/c they all live out of state)

Edited to add, it's sad to find out that people are jealous of your happiness! That's why they act so crazy

I get really mad at myself, but you live and learn and then you meet T and she teaches you a thing or 2 also

I agree with you all. True colors do come out but I always tried to be the better person. There is only so much you can take though. At least you find out who your true friends and famile are.

I too, have wished many a day that I could take back some of the things I did for some. Then I think about it, and at least I'm happy w/ me.
These people- they've got a lot to learn, and what goes around comes around. When it comes around, they'll be missing a friend in me to get through it

I agree with you all so much! My mothe once said to me that in the end, all that matters is me and FH and she is so right. I have really learned in the last 2 years who to trust and who not to!

reading this post makes me so happy to know that I am not alone in feeling like this...

Just today one of my bridesmaids, yes a bridesmaid! told me she thinks it's ****ed up that just beacuse I am getting married I am having a shower and getting gifts, where she is moving into her own apt. and noone is getting her anything. I really do not know what to do

I totally agree with everybody. It's hard not to feel bitter when you find out your 'friends' are really more like enemies, and that all you've done and given over the years was taken for granted and valued so little. But, in this process, you do find out who is worthy of your generosity and kindness. I guess the answer is not to become bitter and unkind, but to become wiser, and therefore more careful who you honor with your kindness.
