ok so.... I want my bm's to wear BLUE, not sure what type of blue, but I want blue, hence the winter wonderland theme!
The day I told FMIL about us getting married, she texted me with “I know it’s your moms choice first but I would love to wear a dark blue” Now this was before I even said the girls are wearing blue!
who is she to choose her color ALREADY???!
SOOO last night im talkin to my mom…. And I told my mom that the girls are going to wear BLUE etc….
So my mom says “oh that’s funny because I was thinking of wearing blue”
UM NOOOOO –
Not for nothing BUT NO!!!!!!!
So I was just emailing with FH's sister and shes like “yea my mom wants to wear navy blue”
So I just wrote her and said “well she CAN'T wear blue bc the girls are wearing blue, and now my mom wants to and im not letting her wear blue either”
Help! How do you deal with situations like this?

NO! you arent being stupid! If you chose blue for your bm's to wear then Mom and FMIL have to choose another! simple as that!

In my opinion.. you have every right ot choose your colors first.... and to ask your Mom and FMIL to NOT wear the same/similar color.
It's YOUR day... do what pleases you!! You'll never make everyone happy, so as long as you and FH are happy... let everything else roll off your back!

wait im confused...i thought the mothers could match the BP if you want them to, or they can wear a different shade of the color. I have no idea bc i am doing black for my BP and my mother wants to wear black so i told FMIL she has to wear black even though she b*tched about it.

I wanted my moms to match my bridal party so i think wow they both chose blue you chose blue everyone will be happy and matching in blue. can't you help pick out the dresses and shades of blue so they match/or at least compliment your bridal party? you can make it what you want but still make them think you are letting them have what they want but now you have an excuse to control the situation more... well my girls are wearing blue and i want you to be able to wear blue too but lets shop together so that it doesn't clash or match exactly what my girls will be wearing (dot dot dot) ... thats what I would do...
I mean don't you want your theme to be throughout the room? would you rather them come in bright yellow or dark green or a bold red?? you pick the color for the girls first and then pick a shade of blue that is different from the parents, like a dark navy blue and a baby blue combo... or whatever based off your main color choice.

I think it depends on the bride. If my mom or fmil wanted to wear a different shade of the BM dresses I would be okay with it, but I think it would look funny if only one of them did...ya know? You should tell her to go back to her original choice as purple. That will probably look realy nice and compliment the blue.

The problem here is that I want my girls in like a DARK blue, navy, or marine blue - and both moms ALSO want to be in a DARK blue!
It would be one thing if my girls are in tiffany blue, but they are all going to be darker....

Both my Mom and FMIL want to wear black.. There not allowed... my mom always wears black and so does FMIL so i forbid black for either one of them. They got mad for a couple of seconds but got over it. Just bring them both shopping and say NO BLUE! tell them to go with a charcoal or a dark purple.

Take it from someone who didn't want her mom to wear purple cuz her BM's were wearing purple... give in on this one w/your mom. There are TONS of shades of blue. I would just have it so they aren't too close in shade.
My mom originally got another color and then was miserable about it so she ended up with purple that looked grey in the end.
As for your FMIL, your mom has first choice in color and she needs to be told this in a nice way.

Both my mom and MIL wore blue - but different blues. And my girls wore teal, which is close to blue. Just tell your mom and MIL you choose your color first, then mom, then MIL. I think it's fine if they all wear blue, just as long as it's not the same blue.
