Moms that had c-sections...

Are you going to have a repeat or are you going VBAC?

Also - How big is your scar? I know people that say theirs is the size of their pinky but mine sure isnt. Mine is about 5'

My doctor said that I can go natural the next time! (Thank-God)
My scar is thin but it's longer than my pinky.

Re: Moms that had c-sections...

I have a question on this - the only way I can describe this is as a shelf - my stomach comes out over the scar (like a shelf) I haven't done anything to help get rid of my stomach - however, I was curious will this ever go away (that is w/o doing anything?)
My babe is almost 6 months -
I lost most of my pregnancy weight within the first 3/4 weeks except for this (Shelf) as I put it -
Does anyone know what I am talking about or is it just me?
My scar is thin too and I'd say it's a little longer than my pinkie

Yep, about the size of my pinky, even smaller. and its healed so well Just looks like a pink line. Can barely tell it was a cut.

I think almost all doctors give the option of VBAC. There are a few out there that suggest C-sections again. and then, it depends on each individual situation.

ok... were you stitched or stapled??????

Re: Moms that had c-sections...

Stitched. Dont know why. Dont the staples just fall off on their own? I had to get the stitches removed.

Anna - FMIL is a RN. She said that staples have to be removed and they makes stitches that disolve (the ones I had)

Junebride, I too have that shelf and it's making me crazy. I lost all my preg weight the first 2 weeks and it's still here almost 8 months later. I wonder if massive crunches will work (as if I had the time!)

I would like to try VB. I never got to expierence labor or anything... and I felt that I missed out on that. I will ask my doc. if I can since my daughter was c-section. She was breech and I also had low lying placenta.

I was stapled and my scar although thin is far longer than my pinky. Brandon is 10 and I still have some remnants of a lower stomach left.

Re: Moms that had c-sections...

Kaycee,
I'm glad you responded I was starting to think it only happened to me -
Do you think this goes away?
Have you seen a difference in the past 3/4 months? My stomach deff. sticks out more then it did prior to my pregnancy -
I used to alway tuck shirts in and now I feel like I need to cover the lower part of my stomach -
The first 4 months I didn't care b/c I felt think b/c I had lost my pregnancy weight so quickly - however, now I'm ging into month # 6 and I still have this - if I lost weight would I still have this?
or will I have this for life?

kaycee - I dont think the shelf is going to go away no matter what you do. The muscles were cut they will never be what they once were (or werent).

Re: Moms that had c-sections...

I was worried about getting stapled... TG my doc stitched. I was thinking about having them removed... THATS MY SKIN FOLKS!!!

Does it hurt?

Re: Moms that had c-sections...

Taking them out didn't hurt, but I had them in for a few days and they would pull when I moved a certain way...they started to get ichy...it was not fun. I am a big wimp and it took me a good 2 weeks to feel better after the c-section. I really hope I can have a VB. (when I am ready of course )

Re: Moms that had c-sections...

I was stitched, still have a 'shelf' (8 weeks later), very thin scar, a little longer than my pinkie. Dr. says I could go VBAC, but also says I can section again and schedule my delivery for any time I want it after 39 weeks...

Re: Moms that had c-sections...

I had steri strips (?). It didn't hurt to get them removed, but I had to get staples in my scalp (I fainted when I was 11 weeks pregnant and hit my head) and the ER gave me an actual staple remover! he told me to take it to my DR, but mentioned to DH that he could probably do it himself. DH was so so anxious to do it that I let him! (Pregnancy brain). It is the same as removing a staple from paper (poor poor paper!)

It's paper CLIPS for me from now on!

Re: Moms that had c-sections...

I had a c-section with kayla and I would do it again in a heartbeat, there wasn't any major pain with it, the only difference is I couldn't get out of bed for 2 days, but I would take that over the pushing and tearing and all that fun stuff. JMO

My scar was about 5 inches and you can still see a little of it but on like 1 inch is actually raised above my skin.
