I have seen this on invitations all the way at the bottom in a tiny font, much more smaller then the wording invitation.
Is this poor taste to get cash , instead of family members or friends giving you 4 toasters at your wedding?
My girlfriend recieved so many gifts that were duplicate that she wished she had suggested monetary gifts. What do you ladies think?

Re: Anyone doing--Monetary gifts preferred
NO, I am NOT doing that. Personally, I would be offended if I saw that on an invitation that I received. I ALWAYS give cash for weddings, but if I saw that, I would either send a gift or give less cash than I normally would.

I don't care what anyone says, it is shamefully tacky to do this. End of story.

Re: Anyone doing--Monetary gifts preferred
i would not put that on an invitation, but the preference will get out by word of mouth from family members in the form of '$$ towards a down payment on a home'...

Re: Anyone doing--Monetary gifts preferred
NO!!! - Thats so weird I have NEVER been to a wedding where people brought gifts... isnt that what the shower is for?
We recieved an invitation last week for a wedding in another country... the groom lives here and the bride lives somewhere else and thats where they chose to get married... and it said in large font in the actual invitation. Please cash gifts only. -- in a way we understood b/c it would be hard to bring stuff there just for them to bring it back in a few months but still!!

Re: Anyone doing--Monetary gifts preferred
I think that's a definite no-no. If you prefer cash, then don't make registry and return any gifts you get. I've found that in this region 95% of weddings gifts are cash anyway
ETA: Spread the word to your family and FH's family. People will definitely ask. Just have your families and BM's telle veryone you have al of the housewares you'd need, but you're trying to save $$ for a home, or whatever it is.

Re: Anyone doing--Monetary gifts preferred
No that's rude, in my opinion.. If you want to get the word out that cash would be more helpful, let your mil, mom, or moh spread the word.. also, don't register for a lot of items.. my fi won';t let me register for a lot.. lol..
