Re: montauk
Montauk Manor is beautiful - We've been there twice recently. It's even better now b/c it's less crowded and less expensive. It's not necessarily worth the money in peak season for a huge suite.Haven't been to the Montauk Yacht Club.
Gurney's was top on the list, but then I heard had some mgt changes - it's still very popular and expensive, but don't have first hand knowledge.
Are you looking for a luxurious hotel, or just a weekend getaway?

Re: montauk
My sweetie and I are going to Montauk next week! We stay at a small place called Sun & Sound. If you're looking for luxury and pampering, it's not for you. But if you just want a little place to get away, it's very nice. It looks like nothing from the front, but you walk around the back and its right on the beach. It's so close you feel like you're on a boat! The view is beautiful. Walking distance to Gossmans. It's clean and quiet. The rooms upstairs have separate loft bedrooms and private terraces. We love Montauk. We were engaged there, 3 months ago today!

Re: montauk
I've passed Sun and Sound, but is it right on that main road? Do you hear the traffic or crowds at all since it's near the marina?

Re: montauk
FI and I have been to Montauk three times. We we go stay at the Dante's Albatross Motel which is write off of the square. It is a 1/2 block from the beach. We get the kitchen efficency room. It comes with a kitchen, microwave, coffee pot and plates, glasses, utensiles, etc. We love it. We actually got engaged there seven months ago (this Valentine's Day Weekend).Roxalita, where did your FI propose? Mine did it at the Crow's Nest.

Re: montauk
we wnt to the montauk manor for our mini-moon....and it was fabulous...we couldn't have asked for more...the best part...which you MUST find...is the guest book...people that stayed in the room before...write a little something in the book...I WAS BAWLING reading it...
there was someone there on 9/11/01...a couple that was thinking about a divorce and reconsiled...a woman who took her overworked husband there and she saw new life come into him...and the best kids that broke the pull out bed in the couch...then we added our little wedding day to it!!
gurneys is fabulous!!! as is the restaurant at the MM

Re: montauk
Teri,I never hear any noise at all at Sun & Sound. Just the waves on the shore! Next time you're out there you should pull into the parking lot on the right side of the building and walk around the back where the rooms face the water. We always go with a big crowd in June (so it may get a little noisy that weekend!) and in Sept. we go by ourselves. But not next Sept...that will be wedding time!

Re: montauk
Check out Ocean Beach Resort! You walk out your sliding glass door and you are literally in a path behind the dunes. Definitly not to fancy but you can hear the wave all night! very clean and during season it's like 180 a night and when we went in oct it was like 65!! We got up and watched the sun rise in october 2 years ago and we are planning to go this oct. stores still open, Indian Summer and less crowded. ALSO they have a glass house around the pool so you feel like your outside and its heated with a red brick patio around it and a Jacuzzi. Love it there!! Also has a efficiency kitchen. Next time I will bring some breakfast and lunch stuff so we can eat out on their large boardwalk type patio on the beach.

Re: montauk
I live in Sag Harbor so I'm not so far away from Montauk, I'm also getting married out in Gurney's. If you can list specifically what you are looking for, i.e. ocean, town, spas etc. I'm sure I could help you out. I have stayed at Montauk Manor and we loved it, it's not on the ocean but still very nice and beautiful location. Let me know if you have anymore specific questions.Welcome New Vendors
