myasmom...... OMG, thats so sad about kay-ko-gi.. or wahtever it is.....

whenever we're in Chinatown i joke around, I say 'quick walk faster, i dont want them to take tinkerbell' (my chihuahua)... so now everytime i'm walking her and we see a chinese person my father makes some stupid joke how theyre staring at her... lol....

OMG that is soooo bad. I had a complex after Korea. I got pissed off because right next to Osan AB in SOng tan there is a puppy mill And the sad part was alot of military ate doggie because they wanted to 'eat' what the locals were and language barrier was a factor

I agree I hate Olive Garden. We are blessed in NY with so many wonderful Italian restaurants. Olive Garden is all premade and processed...YUCKO!

Myasmom, I'm sure like most cultures, authenctic food is made for the likings of their country. Believe it or not, some countries like dishes made with dog. That sounds repulsive to us, but it's alien. I was just saying I really don't think they cook cat in everyday combo platters. Personally, I won't eat in Flushing or China town because I get grossed out of the restaurants there. That should have been my answer

Ponderosa - I don't know if they still have this in NY, but that's the only place my dad would go out to eat.
Any Chinese Buffet place - I need the food to be prepared for me.

Chi Chi's - the worst Mexican chain ever.

Chilli's (once you have good ribs at a restaurant called Blue Smoke in Manhattan --Chillis baby backs do not even compare!!)

I actually love Friendly's ice cream...Mint chocolate chip /reese's pieces sundaes are the best!

Outback is one of my favorite 'chain' restaurants as they are pretty consistent and on the higher end in my opinion.

I love food in Chinatown- I have a restauarant I go to all the time- yes it's slightly dirty there- but it is the ONLY place to get good, authentic Chinese in the city.

OK what about local, non-chain restaurants? I went some place not long ago in Merrick on Merrick Rd., mexican/chinese/I dunno what...can't remember the name tho.
Also, we got terrible pizza AND nasty service at Blue Moon in RVC.

BTW, Olive Graden, Fridays, Pizza Hut, etc....are clients of mine! I don't like their food either, but I sure as heck other people keep going to them!!!

I agree! My dad did some renovation work for Friendly's and he said their kitchens were disgusting. I couldn't eat regular food from there again. But I love their reeses peanut butter cup sundaes, ohhh I could go for one right now.

I'm with you on those two!! Do you remember the sizzler ads when it sounded like they were whispering 'Sizzler'? After eating there my FH & I could understand why they were whispering (so no one would know where they went). Yuck!!!
