Most Stressful Wedding Experience

Most Stressful Wedding Experience

So-- figured I'd ask-- what was the part about wedding planning that stressed you out most.. and how did you deal with it?

I never thought I would stress- but I am!! So- tips, advice, vents would be good to hear.

2nd part of post-- how pissed do you get when people call you Bridezilla for no friggin' reason at all!!

My step dad keeps doing this because I say e.g. 'I like calla liles'... Therefore I am Bridezilla cause I have an opinion. Then again, this man has a habit of telling you 'look tired' before you head out for a big event and you are all done up..

first of all - i am sooo with you on the bridezilla comments!!! why not just say 'uh-oh, it must be that time of the month' everytime I get upset about something!

vent over!

ok, the most stressful thing about the planning.....the guest list and the seating chart.....not fun, glad it's over, would never want to do it again!

I can totally see the BM thing-- but aren't you still deciding on your dress??

Seating is going to be scary- considering two of my BM's are not really friends anymore-- I think I am def going to take my venue up on having tables of different sizes so I can do a table of 8 and a table of 12 so I can keep people apart, or together..

hmmm...it's a tie between

-having all my bridesmaids calling me to complain that the dress didn't fit...they didn't complain about it for the first 2 fittings 2 months before the wedding, but waited until the last minute when it was too late to do anything about it!

-waiting months for our rings to be ready only to have the jeweler tell us that what we wanted engraved didn't fit, so he engraved them with what he wanted intead (yes, it happened)

- finding out a week before the wedding that all the groomsmen ordered suits instead of tuxedos for our formal weddding

SO glad it's all over!!!

THE GUEST LIST -- just wait LOL

Re: Most Stressful Wedding Experience

ACTUALLY-- our guest list is done. It was one of the first things we did.. Got our lists, cut people, etc. This is how we knew how many people so we knew what venues to look at and what to plan for financially. We also got a budget and money from parents. Started a bank account so every deposit, expense, etc. we can take care on own without going back to our parents.

I am an uber project manager for my wedding. Complete with spreadsheets, files and notebooks.

a jeweler out at the flea market in Sayville - he was reccommended by someone, and did an AWESOME job on my e-ring, but for some reason just couldn't get our wedding bands right (I forgot to mention, DH's ring was the WRONG ring and he had to rush order the right one)

and oh yes - the guest list as well - people suddenly turn very stupid and think they can either not ever reply, reply with s guest that wasn't invited, OR feel that they have the right to tell you who they will NOT sit with!

Guest list, only b/c I wanted a teeny tiny wedding and my mom wanted huge (she won)

Mom not helping at all (after insisting on the big wedding)

Finding a band.

Re: Most Stressful Wedding Experience

That sucks-- I agree, our parents made our wedding bigger.. I was thinking 150/175.. But now we are inviting 265 hoping that only 210/215 show up..

Praying for that statistic of 30% to 15% not coming!

For me the most stressful part was paying for the wedding and all the vendors.

Other than that I'd say not having my dress ready until the day before the wedding........long story.

Scary thing is ...... I'd do it again. I loved it.

the seating chart, the RSVP and now people calling 2 weeks before the wedding asking to come. Hello are you for real. we have not heard or seen these people in YEARS, so why on earth would we invite them.

My FH calls me Bridzilla all of the time!!! Ticks me off, I am so not a Bridzilla. I just have opinions and ways that I want things.

Re: Most Stressful Wedding Experience

My most stressful wedding planning experiences so far have been, IN ORDER of most stressful:

-- Fighting with FH

-- Changing our original wedding plan which was a destination wedding in the carribean... to getting married here on LI

-- Changing our date -- moved up the wedding by 7 mos last October from 2004 -- 2005 (but OMG it was the BEST thing we could have done -- I could NOT have dealt with this for 2 years!!)

-- My invitations arriving VERY late, getting lost in the mail, having to have some of them re-done because they were damaged

-- my BMs not doing the simple things they are supposed to do -- like purchasing their shoes -- I have had to hold their hands for EVERYTHING

-- Trying to lose weight since I quit smoking (somebody remind why the HELL I chose to quit smoking while planning my wedding!!)
