Re: mother of the bride/groom dresses...

I haven' t been there, but in a Long Island Wedding Pages ad they list Sugarplum's in Lynbrook with sizes 2-24; there's also Just My Size in the Smithhave Mall sizes 14 to 34.

Re: mother of the bride/groom dresses...

My mom got her dress for my wedding and for my brother's (which was 2 weeks ago) at Lestan's in Brooklyn. We searched everywhere for her dress.

My mom considers herself a chubby lady (But she isn't at all). lol

Re: mother of the bride/groom dresses...

I have two recommendations:

My Mom and FMIL both got their dresses at the same place where I bought my wedding dress - Beautiful Bride, 260 Merrick Road, Lynbrook, - 516-593-1105.

Also try Queen of Hears in Merrick - 29 Merrick Avenue, Merrick - 516-377-1357

Good Luck!

Try Commack Wedding Center. Sugar Plums is great but it is super $$$$ and they rip tags out of dresses.

Re: mother of the bride/groom dresses...

I also suggesdt Lestan's in Brooklyn. My mom (who is not too small) got her dress there for my sisters wedding. We went to 6 stores before we went there. In a half hour she had her dress. They are great . They don't try to sell what isn't flattering. Other places put her in dresses that my grandmonther won't even where.

Re: mother of the bride/groom dresses...

My mom tried on a few gowns at Bridal Reflections in Carle Place. A little bit on the $$$ side, but they have a fairly large selsection, and the woman working in there that day was very helpful.

Re: mother of the bride/groom dresses...

Estelle's! My mom is larger so to speak...and she liked their selection a lot, she tried on about 7 dresses and no joke they all looked good and not ugly/farty looking things either. We went to Lord & Taylors and didn't like their selection as much as Estelle's.

My mom and my mother in law got their dresses at Totally You. They have a wide range of sizes. Bothy were very happy with the service.

Re: mother of the bride/groom dresses...

My mom got her dress at My Daughter's wedding in Great Neck. We looked at more stores for her dress than we did for mine. Other store's that I would recommend that also had beautiful things are:
Filly's on Willis Avenue in Roslyn
En Toto Northern Blvd. Great Neck
Iman in Old Brookville
Menshke in Hewlett
P.M. Boutique in Oceanside

Good Luck

Re: mother of the bride/groom dresses...

My mother will most likely get her dress at Beautiful Bride in Lynbrook. She checked many of the bridal salon's mother's dresses. She also went to Sugarplum and Dina's in Plainview (I think). Dina's had a large selection.

Re: mother of the bride/groom dresses...

My mother ALWAYS gets her dresses at Sugarplums. She won't even think about going anywhere else. They do carry plus sizes and are very nice and helpful. My mom wears plus sizes and always gets a dress from there that makes her look gorgeous.

Re: mother of the bride/groom dresses...

My Mom got her's @ Adrianne's in Islip. She found it there on her own & then I started reading all of the bad stuff about them on her, but honestly we had no problems. My Mom is short & a little chubby, they had very elegant dresses.

Re: mother of the bride/groom dresses...

My mother got her dress at Beautiful Bride (they were very nice and let her come 'visit' the dress often before she ordered it without an sign of a hassle).

My FMIL got her at Estelle's.

You could also try Sugarplum, Dina's (in Plainview), or the shop where you got your dress (they may give a discount).
