So, I finally got through to the Father today...background is I went to this church ( it's episcopal) for about 10-12 years with mom and sister ( sundays, parties, holidays) and since we moevd have been there mainly on holidays and they were nto happy with that ( its a 45 minutes ride and I go to school on sundays) ANYWAY< I call ( for the 5th time) today and talk to the Father and I give him our date and he says no, absoulutly not, it's during Lent...but I have been to weddings ( in catholic churchs) during lent? I started crying, I got so upset, the bm at the hall said he didnt think it would be a problem at all..now there is no way I can change my date... Any brides been to or had a lent wedding and where??

Re: MY church said NO!!!!
I can sympathize with you! My family isn’t religious but my FI’s family is…he’s Protestant but his mother’s family is Pentecostal. We were, thankfully, advised by his brother and sister-in-law that not only will some churches not allow weddings to be held there but the Pentecostal side won’t even show up! They believe this time is solely for religious reflection.
Personally, I would love to have a destination wedding or just have that side not be able to attend. FI’s not close with them either-this is all for my future mother-in-law who is very sweet and loving but insists a Christian ceremony in a church with her family there! Since my future mom-in-law is giving us a nice amount of money, and we promised FI’s deceased father, we are obligated to follow through (and I have no problem with that).
My point, it could be worse! I have a friend whose parents aren’t even attending her wedding. You will find a solution, but I’m offering my wish of good luck anyway!

Re: MY church said NO!!!!
My church does not allow weddings during Lent. It all depends on the priest.
