My cousin cancelled her wedding and I am so pi$$ed.

Sorry this is long...

at 8am this morning i got a phone call from my aunt telling me my cousin canceled her wedding. i am so freaking pi$$ed! she decided to get married to this guy (who she's been with for 8 years, 4-5 of which he's been begging her to get married) 2 weeks after FH and i got engaged. she wanted a destination wedding and was really selfish about the whole thing and you could tell a lot of it was because she was jealous of FH and was trying to compete. plus she wasn't even excited to get married anytime i talked to her she just didn't care and her mom ended up planning everything besides the BM dresses and her wedding gown.

between the gift and the clothes and all of the other beauty things i spent over $500. i don't have money like that to just throw away. i'm so lucky i didn't buy a plain ticket or a hotel room otherwise that would have been another $1000! but my plane ticket was my birthday present this year from my parents. i could have used the $400 to finish paying off my credit card debt. and now i just spend hundreds of dollars and doubled my debt thanks to her.

no one really knows how she is because her mailbox is full and no one can get a hold of her. i know she's upset, and i feel bad for her because she essentially broke her own heart. but i am so incredibly angry, as is her mother who paid for the whole wedding by herself and now she can't get any of that money back. that's thousands of dollars down the drain for nothing!

plus she hasn't even ordered her dress for my wedding (she was going to be a BM) claiming that she was too overwhelmed with the wedding (even though my aunt literally did everything and paid for everything). and this is the latest we could put the order through for the dresses.

she is so freaking selfish i can't believe it.

this was a desination wedding? If your parents already paid the ticket then I would go on vacation with FH....don't lose the money....enjoy the time off

I wish we could, but we don't even have the money to go by ourselves. We can't afford all the meals and we would just end up sitting in the time share eating PB&J the whole time. I can do that here.

awww that really stinks!!! I know there might be a way of having the airlines issue a credit that you might be able to use towards another flight in the future....I would look into this so at least it can be used at a later time....

my mom just told me that she actually took out insurance on the tickets, suspecting this might happen. so she'll get all of her money back. thank god for that.

i know people are going to post with things like i shouldn't be selfish and i should look at it from her perspective, and i do see the bright side of all of this (trust me, this is what i have been telling to everyone else). but i am just so incredibly pissed. everyone knows how selfish of a person she has always been, and now she screwed over our entire family with wasting money on plane tickets and hotel rooms and gifts. ugh. i'm just so angry.

Actually i was going to say dont you think its so funny how some people get when u get engaged? I mean overall i have had such great experiences but u always have that one person who is such a strange duck! And now look because of her stupidity not only are u out $$$$ but she caused so many others grief & expense. Thats just sad. If she could have just s u c k e d it up & said wow thats great & not have the attention focused on her during your time then maybe this never would have happened! So sorry for u!

Oh yea something like this happened to me & Fh on a destination wedding for friends & we had a credit on Jetblue we used it towards our HM (the Aruba part). So it actually turned out ok!
