My DH and I just did the Saddest thing we ever had to do!!

About a half an hour ago we put our poor little baby to sleep. I was so worried about DH and I am the one who has totally fallen apart. I can not stop crying. We met with the vet, he told us our options and we decided it was time for her to go. We held her for a little while and talked to her. I told her my brother would be waiting in heaven for her. Then the vet came in, gave her a shot and by the time he finished the whole injection she was gone. I just can't stop crying. I keep hoping we made the right decision. In my heart I know we did, but it is just so hard. We just got home a few minutes ago, and I broke down when we walked in the door. It smells like her, her hair is everywhere, but she's not here. We decided to have her creamated and we ordered a very nice urn with a picture of her on the front and a little thing that says, Miss Kitty!! We will miss our little baby a lot. IThank you for all your prayers and support. I just hope this saddness eases soon. I just can't stop crying.

I am SO very sorry for your loss..

I've been reading this week how you and your husband have been suffering and struggling with this decision.. so it seems like you did the best thing for Miss Kitty at this point. To see her suffer any longer would have been worse than what you did by putting her peacefully to sleep. I know that doens't make your loss any easier to deal with, but trust in the fact that she is in a better place and is no longer in pain

My cat died suddenly several years ago. I cried for three days...It does get easier...I'm sad for you...What was your cats name???

Maybe she'll meet up with my Pebbels in cat heaven...

It is so hard to lose a pet.... I remember when we had to put my dog to sleep. At least she is not suffering anymore.

Miss Kitty is not suffering anymore, she is playing with other kitties in a better place. It definitley gets easier, do you think she would want you to cry or to remember the happy times you had together ;)

I did the same thing with my beloved pet of 11 years. He was a family member who had becoem blind and deaf. We suspected he might have cancer because he was losing weight quickly. I did what you did, whispered to him. They administered the shot with me standing there and my little dog was in doggie heaven. I told him over and over how much I loved him and who he should look for in heaven. Even the vet was crying!
That night I know this is silly, I did a candlelight ceremony for his soul with DH and I joined a support grievance group for parents who lost thir pets. If you do a search for pet loss, you will find it. On the website, I was able to express myself with a tribute and reading about other tributes from families all over the country made me feel better.
This happened in December. I promise you time heals the pain you are feeling today. Feel free to FM if you need to talk.

I've been where you are and have felt the same way you do. Although you know in your heart that you did what was best for her, it still hurts to be the ones left behind. I hope that you and DH are able to heal quickly. And don't let anyone tell you that you shouldn't mourn your loss as you would a human member of your family.

I am truly so sorry!

I didnt know what was wrong with my dog a few weeks ago. She is ok right now. But thinking of losing her was devastating.

I'm all chocked up and I cant even imagine how hard it is....It is like a family member and they are there 24 hrs a day...the grief must be soooo hard and I pray it gets easier for you...I dont know what I would do or how I would do it if I had to, so I commend you on your bravery and strength....we had to put our kitty to sleep once about 6 years ago and I couldnt go with my mom to the vet , it was too hard and to be honest, I had to block it out because it hurt so bad....

Hang in there...you have no idea how bad I feel for you!
