My DH and I just did the Saddest thing we ever had to do!!

Thank you all for your kind words. This truly is a lot harder than I thought it would be. I didn't sleep too much last night because my baby wasn't next to me. She always slept with me, right at my side and made me tuck her under the blanket. Our other cat keeps searching for her. I decided to take today off considering I still can't stop crying. I am going to clean the house today and try and get some chores done that I have not been able to do for the past week because I was taking care of Miss Kitty. We are taking some comfort in the fact that we will have her home agin with us in two weeks when we get her ashes back. We discussed last night going to get another cat this weekend to keep our little boy company. Since we work all day, we feel like he needs a companion. The funny thing is when my husband got Miss Kitty, he went out and got Mr. Peabody to be her companion and now we have to get him one. We are totally heartbroken, and know it will take time to get over our little baby. But we want to help rescue another cat at a shelter who may not have long, as they only keep them a few days before putting them down if no one adopts them. It will be hard to bring home a new cat, but we have a lot of love to give.
I am really having a tough time this morning. I just keep visioning the doctor sticking her with the needle and then 10 seconds later her head dropped. I know we did the right thing, but it just hurts sooooo bad. Thank you again for all your support. I was crying last night reading all your posts. And the Rainbow Bridge poem is beautiful!! I know my kitty is running around playing now all revived and healthy in heaven!!

I am so so sorry....you both did the right thing for sure...your kitty had too good of a life to suffer anymore.

Oh Im sososoososososo sorry!!! I know that wasnt an easy thing to do...but please know that you DID do teh right thing, cats know when they are sick and although they may not have pain, they have stress from knowing they are sick, thats why many of them hide when they are sick. So you put Miss Kitty ina happy place and she will watch over you and love you and greet you when you go to heaven!!! Did you watch what dreams may come..a movie? The Dog was there waiting!!!! I know its hard, and your pain will get easier with each passing day...you had many years with a wondreful cat, consider it a blessing that you had each other and cherish that blessing!!!! My heart goes out to you and yoru DH, I know you are both suffering.

OMG! I'm in tears over here I know it's difficult but you did make the right decision because you loved Miss Kitty and that was the best thing for her.

i know how that feels - it is one of the worst feelings in the world....but she is not in misery anymore

I am so sorry....at least she is not suffering anymore. My cat passed away after 17 years and it was very difficult for my entire family. Hang in there.

I'm sorry. Unfortunately I know how you're feeling and eventually the days do get easier.

She's still with you. I completely believe that. And she's not hurting anymore.
