Bad news is that the bridal shop I'm going to doesn't have any open appointments with the seamstress until October 7th (that are on the weekend or one of the later nights - i work in the city)
I felt kind of annoyed that couldn't find a time for me before then - considering my dress came in 3 weeks later than they promised - but, it is what it is. I insisted on them letting me come in this weekend and try it on until they gave in. . . I had to argue for a few minutes, but oh well. I want to make sure its the right color / size, etc.
ughhhh.
someone tell me that is plenty of time for alterations and I'm fine.

Re: My dress
I think thats plenty of time. My seamstress had me come in a month before. BUT I will say that I think they should accomodate you since your dress did come in 3 weeks late. And then they gave you a hard time about trying it on again?? They should be completely accomodating since they got your dress in so much later than they said. You need to get wild on their asses!

You should be fine. I can't even believe they gave you a hard time about coming in...they should've just offered considering your dress was 3 weeks late.
Good luck!!!

Yeah, I got a little upset - is that like an abnormal thing to ask? To come in and try it on? Like - how long can it take, 10 minutes?!!?!?!?

Coleen, yay for your dress and I really think you do have plenty of time. I started early b/c I needed to add sleeves for my HUGE arms, but I think you will be fine. I do think you are right though going to try it on before hand.

Re: My dress
I think the alterations are fine a month ahead- especially since you have been doing so amazing on your diet- buys you time to make sure you dont lose a lot right before & they have to adjust anyway
BUT- I think they suc for not letting you try the dress on- maybe try asking again- they screwed up and I think they should at least accomodate that.

They eventually gave in and told me to come in lol.
I've been so calm up to this point, now that my dress is in, I realize my wedding is close and I want to throw up I have so much to do LOL.

Re: My dress
You probably have plenty of time BUT I would recommend making an appointment for a second fitting now. If you don't need it you can cancel it. The shop might not want to go along with it, but it's the least they can do since your dress was 3 weeks later.

Believe me, I know the feeling.
I glued crystals onto my cake topper last night and cut paper for my menus, only to realize I needed more paper So I got it at lunch and will finish menus tonight.
One month is plenty of time for alterations! I started mine in late August and was done by mid Sept. It only took like 3 weeks, maybe even just 2? A dress shop may need a little more time, but you have 4 weeks. Just try to make the second appt for like Oct 18 or something so you have time if you need another fitting. I only needed two - the first one and then a try-on when she made the changes.
