Re: My hair won't hold a curl - keratin

I got it done almost 4 months ago..the first 2 months were AMAZING!! Especially since it was so humid on the summer. I felt that it didn't totally come out but if I was by the water like at Jones Beach for a concert it didn't stay perfect. I didn't try to ave curls put in until the 2nd month for our E-Party. While my curls stayed, it wasn't how I wanted them to be..they were more flatened. I did it kind of as a trial for the honeymoon, but I've decided to deal with having curly hair, because I wan't my hair to stay the way it used to. I tried to curl it as in scrunch today and it's gross still it's not as nice as my curls used to be its like straggly rat hair. One thing I did notice in general is my curls (with curling iron) stay when it it freshly washed not after sleeping on it as they say to. My hair gets so greasy. So try that maybe?

Pic #1 curls before Keratin

Pic #2 curls after 2 months of Keratin see they stayed but very flat

Re: My hair won't hold a curl - keratin

i got the keratin treatment 4 months ago and i do love it but it is a bit difficult to hold a curl in the beginning. you can always try to wash it a bit more before your wedding and you will probably be fine. mine will hold a curl now. if you want i would not get the keratin right before the wedding...i would wait so there would be at least three months after.

Re: My hair won't hold a curl - keratin

I did Japanese 2 years ago and it finally will curl again. I was dieing to do it again but have to wait until after wedding. I did think the keratin would allow your hair to still curl. I had asked 2 of my friends that are stylist I would call and find out!!! Take some prenatal pills they help with hair growth!!!!

Re: My hair won't hold a curl - keratin

I'm so surprised that they told you that you could curl your hair after keratin. I really wanted to get it done prior to the wedding, but both hair stylists I talked to told me not to because they knew I wanted curls on my wedding day.
It sucks that you got misinformation.

Re: My hair won't hold a curl - keratin

They should have told you that it was a possibility that that would happen. I was looking into this and my hair stylist suggested I wait until after the wedding. HTH! And I hope your curls curl

Re: My hair won't hold a curl - keratin

I got a Keratin treatment done 3 weeks before my wedding--before I got it done I asked my stylist if my hair would still be able to hold a curl because I was wearing my hair down and curly on my wedding. She said yes it would.!! And it did it hed the curl all day just like it always did- it just was not as frizzy. I have naturally very wavy hair. I never had a problem getting it to curl...

my hair is naturally pretty curly/wavy..

but what a mess it was on Sunday... It stayed curled for like 15 minutes and then fell flat and looked all stringy.

My hair won't hold a curl - keratin - Long Island Weddings

as a hair stylist and someone who does keratin to my own hair every 4 months, it should hold a curl no matter what! i have been doing keratin on my own hair for 5 years and have never had a problem on myself or my keratin clients. i would recommend not shampooing and not using conditioner before curling, using a mouuse with hold, setting the curls in pin curl clips until all done curling, using a heavy hair spray, and using a curling iron one size smaller then ur desired curls because all curls will drop a little bit. if your looking for to have a trial done elsewhere call Renaissance Salon in Ronkonkoma 631-451-9415, ask for Caitlin :)

My hair won't hold a curl - keratin - Long Island Weddings

I don't know where you live but I went to a salon called Hair Stories in Babylon. The girl I used was named Gina. She puts the salons own products in your hair when they curl it and I can't express enough how amazing she is. My hair doesn't usually hold curls either and whatever these magical products they use are unreal. She told me she has even curled Japanese straightened hair. I HIGHLY recommend you check her out.

My hair won't hold a curl - keratin - Long Island Weddings

Look into extensions by Euronext from Sally Beauty Supply. My hair is pin straight to begin with and doesn't hold a curl either. I bought those extensions - they were about $150 and gave them to my hair stylist. She curled them, and then set and curled my hair for about 3 hours the morning of the wedding. Even though my hair kind of feel, the extensions didn't so it gave the illusion that my hair was still curly
