The photographer I really like told me today that she doesn't offer proofs. Um, HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO SEE MY PICTURES??? I thought most photgrahpers give you like 300-500 proofs.
can someone tell me if I'm crazy? Should I run for the hills? I'm freaking out.

OMG, you'll find someone way better!
I think she was overpriced for what she was offering. If you'd like more reasonably priced digital photos, check out www.greydogphotography.com -- I'm pretty sure they don't charge that much for wedding packages, and I think the CD with your proofs is included in the package.

I agree. In this day and age, almost all photographers give you PROOFS or ALL your negatives on CD [or both]. In 2006 and beyond, they've got to be crazy NOT to offer this service to brides to be honest. I say go elsewhere...you are paying for these photos, they are YOURS. You should get proofs and/or negatives FOR SURE.

That is odd how all of sudden she is booked on your date when you're asking her valid questions. I can understand perhaps not offering ALL your proofs, but offering a set # of proofs and the CD with all the proofs.
For the $$ she quoted you, it should include all proofs and a CD.
Truth be told, she probably did you a favor by being 'booked' on your date.

Oh, wanted to add it's a female photographer, too - and her husband is the 2nd photographer. They do really nice work!

I have been emailing with her all morning trying to figure out just what the hell her cost DOES cover. I asked her how much she charges for proofs and how I am expected to view my photos, etc... She said 'my clients buy their digital images.'
She then suddenly just now said she was has become booked on my date. I guess she didn't like all my questions Oh well... onward & upward!!!

Your much better off. Trust me...there are photographers out there that WILL give you your proofs - AND they do phenominal work!

a very good friend of mine spent just about 9k on her photographer...AND THEY DIDN'T INCLUDE PROOFS!!! it was insane to me.... i mean, her pics in her album are georgous, but she misses out on all those other amazing photos that she didn't choose. They gave her a website to view the photos and it had the photographers copyright across every picture...in the end she ended up with sheets of paper with 'mini' photos on them(really mini...like 3inch sized pics) and that was it besides her album. I would REALLY research and shop around...there are plenty of AWESOME photographers out there who do beautiful work AND include the proofs.

I would not go with her! No proofs at that price, I have never heard of that. For the money you where going to spend there are plenty of really good photographers out there. I would check out, Angelica Glass Christina Bohn ( I used her, and she is wonderful) Verdi These photographers are fantastic, at least I think so!

while her work looks nice, I am just trying to figure out what she is offering for 4k??? just to take the photos but that's it?
for that budget there are so many other great photographers and studios out there who will give you proofs, and negatives and albums and prints, etc...
sounds like this person only wants couples who don't ask any questions at all....

well i have to admit my photographer to me i would be getting all the proofs and a dvd....then he told me the number of proofs 900-1000 im like geeeeeeez what the heck am i gonna do with all of them but i know im gonna be happy to have all of them....can u talk it over or negotiate? bc i mean what r they gonna do w them if they do give them to u?

I'm not sure how comfortable I'd be with that ... if I were you I'd find out just what they are offering for you to see ... you don't want to end up getting screwed. years from now these pics are going to be like gold to you

you may get them all on CD (1300 pics), that's what i got but i also got 400 of my proofs printed as part of the package. any other pics i can print myself. i thought it was easier this way cause i chose the 400 i really wanted and the others i can look at anytime i want. and i can email them to everyone to look at!
