Re: names

Michele, you are so right! I love my family but from day one I told my DH any name discussions were to remain between us only! The eye rolling and the 'OH' (said with that inflection!) would be too much for me in the hormone overloaded state I was in.

Mind you, we needed 4 names! We didn't know if the twins were boys, girls or one of each! We came up with the boys names somewhat painlessly (discounting Angus and Yarlouth - and no my husband was serious) and agreed on Connor and Ryan (which they are). But even as I was going in for my C-section we did not even have one girl name we agreed upon! We both liked Aine (An-ya), which is Gaelic, but worried over a lifetime of spelling and pronunciation issues. But alas, my two made that a non issue!

WOW lots of neices and nephews!!!!!

I second the 'don't tell family members' My mom shot down my FAVORITE name - Lola May saying it sounded like a stripper. And to Roman she said - that is the devil's name in Rosemary's Baby. ANNOYING!

Re: names

For a boy I chose Alexzander Jaimes... We wanted something unique.. and couldnt agree on anything! I wanted my Z and brian disnt like it at all.. so we compromised... He got to spell themiddle name all wacky if I could have My Z!!!!!! (I got it!) I also liked:
Bryan
Zachary
Paul
Matthew
My Brian LOVED the name Noah! *eek* Trust me with his last name Noah definately would not work...

When we were preggy, I LOVED the name alexis for a girl, then my wacko-other-half turns around and goes, 'o yeah, thats good, so when she gets into jr high/high school-*he could just see it now*- Boys standing together.. -So bobby, what are you dooing after school..--I'm taking Alexis for a ride!' I was mortified!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So for girls names we cam up with:
Shannon Colleen
and Alexzandria... *Bri hated this one too*
I wanted my Z... What can I say!
When we gett preggy again.. I will definately need your help!!!!

Re: names

Ooooh! I LOVE Julian. My DH would never go for that either. I'm trying to sell him on the name Troy but I think it's a useless struggle. He's very easygoing in general but with the baby's names, he was obstinate. Luke was an easy one. We both loved it and it was our first (and last choice) and now I have my very own Lukie

Re: names

Jenny, not sure if it will help you, but DH insists that if future baby is a boy, we must name is Max, not Maxim, Maximillian, or anything like that, just plain Max!!! Since I don't mind this name, its a non issue until I am preggo (a few years). The girl name is a whole other story

Re: names

All these names are so nice!!!

Coming from a Greek Family - our decision will be easy

First boy and girl - named after Husbands' mom and dad

Second boy and girl - named after wifes' mom and dad

Two names are pretty easy

Ionannis - which is John
Maria - nice and easy

And then two nice Greek Ones

Vassiliki - girl's name
Lambros - boy's name

Re: names

I hear you about the telling of family members. You can only imagine what I go thru with a name like Damien (hello it was a movie from the 70's) Mostly from his family!!! Mine loves it especially my Dad, he thinks it's a strong name and his middle name Richard is after my Dad.

Other names on our list:
Shane( Michele we had a hard time choosing between Shane and Damien)
Roman
Connor
Owen
Damon

Girls manes:
Jadyn Elizabeth (if it was a girl no matter what name we chose her middle name would be Elizabeth)
Kylie
Abagail(we would call her Abbey)

Re: names

I just keep my mouth shut nowadays. All of you know A LOT more about my names than anyone else does. So please keep my secrets
Yes, Emory is my 2 grandmother's names combined: Eva and Mary. I was going to name the baby Eva Mary, but decided that I wanted them to both have equal billing so that is how I came up with Emory.

Re: names

Liz D, I LOVE your names. I'd love a boy to be Nicholas Joseph and a girl to be Maria Rose. I haven't even discussed this with DH, yet, though, since we won't TTC for a few years...I suppose I need his input.

Re: names

Question: Does anybody like Charles? Do you think it's an automatic 'Charlie' nickname?

Also - Aurelio. What kind of nickname do you think?

Re: names

I saw a pretty girls name in a magazine last night

Gabriella - ella for short. Thought that was nice

Re: names

Michele, I think Emory sounds beautiful w/your last name

Melissa - I don't think Skyler is a feminine name...I used to work w/a guy whose name was Skyler and everyone called him Sky for short. I like it.

When I was in HS, we had this week long project to tote around an 'egg baby' so that we could see what it would be like to take care of a real child. You had to arrange babysitting and everything if you wanted to go to the movies w/friends!

Anyway, my 'egg baby's' name was Kaylee Elizabeth

Re: names

There were some debates as to boys name in my house as well. The only thing we agreed on was that it was an Italian name (much to my mother's dismay )!! I wanted:

Dominic (my father's name/DH and my father vetoed that one)
Joseph (Joe doesn't want a 'jr')
Salvatore
Vincent
Angelo

Then of course I went 'really' Italian and was coming up with Carmine, Mario and all sorts of names and he was like with our last name they'll think he's in the mafia!!!

We finally agreed on Angelo Vincent (after both our grandfathers). Needless to say, my mother is praying for a because she doesn't like Angelo! Oh well, too bad!!

Re: names

Jenny - I love the name Charles...and love Charlie for the nickname - much more than I like Chuck. But maybe I'm biased...

If we have a boy, the name is already picked - after both of our grandfathers: Charles Francis.

A friend of mine, his nephew's name is: Liam Guinness - I absolutely LOVE that name. (Guinness is a family name, he wasn't named after beer!)

Unless we have a girl first, then her middle name will be Frances - I've wanted my grandfather's name as my child's middle name for forever. But I'd like something really unique for a girl's first name.

In FH's family, here are the niece's & nephew's names:

Giovanna (Gia)
Gerard
Victoria Jade
Jasmine Nicole
Alana Jolie
Matthew John
Alexandria
Brianna

There are a few more, but I can't think of them right now.
