Definitely keep looking.

What happenned for us was our original hall cancelled on us. They literally sold our date even though they had our deposit (crazy, right?) so when we found out my sister dragged us out THAT day to look at halls. I didn't want to look at The Inn because I knew it was out of budget but the second I walked in there, we all were just awed and we KNEW we had to have the wedding there.

Spending that amount definitely sets us back on buying a house, etc. Our hall alone cost pretty much our entire original wedding budget, but we just knew we weren't going to be happy anywhere else.

For that reason i totally suggest ONLY looking at places within your budget. You can always go for a less expensive RH and then add some over-the =top extras.

omg I can't believe that happened!!!!!! how can they legally do that?? so glad it worked out in the end and you found the perfect place.

We changed our date and they held our deposit. We told them the new date we wanted and they said fine. One the day we were supposed to come in to re-sign the paperowkr with the new date, I called them to tell them we were running late for the appointment and they told us they had sold that date to another couple the day before!!!! This was after several people had told us we had the date and it was ours.

And this was a MAJOR , well-known, expensive north shore wedding hall. it wasn't a fly by night place. I think the people who came in and wanted that date must have been having a bigger party with moe guests, more extras, whatever

its definitely a personal decision
we opted for a venue we liked (saw others we loved but they were higher priced) so that we could have more people. we are SO glad we did it that way...for us, in the end we just wanted as many people there as possible (i have a HUGE family and DH has a ton of friends). we didnt want to look back in 10 years and think oh too bad so-and-so wasnt there...but thank goodness we spend $1,000 on a cake upgrade instead.

We choose affordable. We were in the same boat. Whether you spend more or less the important thing to remember is you are marrying your best friend. Save your money! Not sure if you own a home yet but I would use the money towards that or something else. You can still have a wonderful wedding on a budget. HTH!
