Need Everyone's Opinion about THURDSAY Weddings!!!!

My FH & I are paying for our own wedding and we are also trying to buy a house... With my line of work it doesn't matter what day I get married on, but it can't be during the summer. My question is: What do people really think about going to a wedding on a Thursday??? Do people get annoyed that they have to take off?? Will they think that you paid less and will give less in a gift?? Not stay all night because thay have to work the next day???? I was thinking Nov. 9. It is A Thursday, and the Friday is the 10th it is an observance Day for Veteran's Day.. So if people had off for Friday, then the Thursday could be like a Friday night, Right??? Please help!!! I need opinions... My mom just keeps giving me dirty looks!!!

my wedding is a sunday so people have to take off the following monday (especailly since many are traveling)... I know that thursday weddings aren't extremenly common but you have to do what works for you... anyone who wants to share in your wedding will be there no matter what...

IMO I wouldn't do it. You'll probably get a lot of NO's for a response. People will probably have to take Thursday off or a 1/2 day if your ceremony is at 3pm. They might not want to take the Friday off as well. It's a tough one. You have to do what makes you happy but you might not have a lot of people coming to the ceremony and people might leave early from the reception.

Many people have off the next day, you save a bunch of money and I think its a great idea! I have a four day weekend that weekend so I would be excited myself if I was a guest. I hope that helps.

I would go if I was close to the couple/family. I wouldn't give less of a gift because of the day. I think a lot of people would leave early.

I don't think you would necessarily give less a gift, but unless I was very close to the couple I would not attend. My company does not close for Veteran's Day, so I would have to take 1/2 day at least Thursday and Friday. JMO...but if iot works for you, and I'm sure you'll save a bundle go for it!!!

you're right in the fact that if they love you and they want to be there they will!!!!

I agree with the majority... if people want to be there they will, they just might leave early... I would never consider giving less of a gift b/c the day of the week it is on, that is rude.

I would say do it. People take off work all the time for weddings. It's no big deal. The people that love you will be there!

I think weddings during the week are becoming more common. Just be aware that people may have to leave earlier because they have work the next day. How about Friday night?

I wouldn't do it. I would rather opt for a Fri night or Sunday wedding and have it at a more affordable catering hall.

we went to a thurs wedding aug 02 and it was wonderful. it was my cousins and she said she had more yes replys then no's. i agree that the peoplw who love u will be there. good luck

I think you need to do what works best for you and your family.

We are having a Thursday wedding. Before we decided we talked to all of our close family and friends to see what they thought - the consensus was, they would be there even if it was a Tuesday afternoon! So, we went for it.

So far, we have gotten only 2 no's, and about 40 yes's. (I can let you know the final RSVP outcome if you're interested.) We also sent out Save the Dates to our close family and friends about 9 months in advance.

One other huge benefit of being a Thursday is that you get your pick of vendors. We never had to worry about our top choice being booked. That, and we got discounts for our date as well.

Being that its the day before veterans day I think that you should be ok having it on a Thursday night. My friend had her wedding on a Wednesday night (before thanksgiving) and it was awesome-we didn't even consider giving less b/c of the day of the week.

I say go for it!

If you didn't have a lot of out of town guests, then it would be ok, but if you do then another night would be better. Good luck! The people that matter most to you, will be there no matter what day/time!

Are you thinking Thursday during the day or at night? I had a Thursday daytime wedding. The only people who we invited that couldn't come were those who were out of state and we already knew when we invited them that they couldn't come. Everyone else took time off from work, came from out of state, etc., and they were thrilled to be there. If you are planning a larger, less intimate affair, I would choose a Thursday evening over a day wedding, though.

I also don't think you should base your decision on whether you think your guests will give you less of a gift on a Thursday. It shouldn't even be a consideration or thought when planning a wedding. If that's a concern, have a Saturday night wedding. It will cost you more, but you'll get more money.

For me, the issue would be a mood thing rather than attendance thing, although people might leave early if it is Thursday.
I think people will want to spend time with you, drink at your wedding and relax and if they are thinking about work that day or work the next day it might be tough. I think you should consider Saturday or Sunday, maybe during the day, maybe at a more affordable hall. Whatever you decide, it wont stop people who love you from coming.l
