Need to vent...

Need to vent...

DH has been disappointed in one of his brothers lately. He is just pissed off on how non-chalant they are about things. They have always been like this but now it’s gotten to the point where you are like “what the F***” . They have been doing things lately that have been pissing off DH but it’s unintentional and they don’t know it because of how non-chalant and dim witted they are sometimes.

Ever since we got married my BIL’s wife calls less she DH all the time before he was married because she only called when she needed someone to baby her two boys. DH is a teacher so every time there is a school break we know she will call and ask DH to babysit for not one day but for like 2 or 3, and sure enough she did it when they had the Easter break. He doesn’t mind doing it but DH is like “one day ok, but 2,3 days, no way…I’m married now and I want to be with my wife, we have our own things to do”. Hello he is not single anymore! It’s not that we don’t want to do it, I would babysit my nieces or nephews in a heartbeat but it’s just that his SIL calls everytime he’s on a schoolbreak and sometimes he can’t go cuz he’s got things to get done. What pisses us off more is that that is the only reason she calls, when she needs a babysitter….

They were supposed to move but then their plans didn’t fall through and couldn’t buy the new house, so they called everyone in the family (all the immediates) except us to let them know. So then when he called them on his godson’s birthday and got his SIL on the phone he mentioned the news about their new house and he was like “I guess the last ones to know are the least important ones of the family”. And she was like “oh well I figured word would get around after telling one person in the family”. Yeah meanwhile you called every single family member. She is so ditzy sometimes….

The latest thing that’s got DH a little disappointed is the fact that on May 1 they had a communion for their youngest son and DH and I gave a b-day to the oldest son(which was the following week) which is DH’s Godson and he opens the gift, takes the clothes out and puts them back in the gift bag, then he opened his card, took the money out went upstairs put it in his wallet and never thanked us. I know he’s just a kid but I think that at 11 years old you should be old enough to say thank you. It should be planted in your head at a young age. My parents made me give a kiss to anyone who gave me a gift and also to say thank you. I could understand if a 1,2, or 3 year old did this but at 11…come on. One of my nieces who is 4 always points out gifts I have gotten her in the past and says thank you again….i got her this little juice cup from Bermuda, it’s really cute and the last time I was at her house she was like “you got this for me, thank you for this, thank you” She wouldn’t have even said that had her parents not taught her to say thank you…so this makes me wonder how mucy DH”s godson’s parents have taught him to be polite and say thank you..

…ok so lets say that he’s a kid and was too excited and forgot to say thank you, then how about his mom or dad saying thank you. We told her if the clothes don’t fit let us know and she was looking at them and was like “no they look fine” no “thank you guys” or nothing. I can understand she had things on her mind with her other son’s communion but we didn’t even get a call a couple of days afterward to say “oh rob thanks for my son’s b-day gifts, sorry I didn’t get the chance to thank you on Saturday, we had a lot going on”. Give me a break. Another thing her son does is demand b-day gifts from everyone. After he opened our gift, he went to DH”s sister, my FIL, MIL, and BIL and asked them all where his birthday gifts were. Now to me that’s rude, my parents taught me to never ask for gifts from anyone cuz they considered it rude. I couldn’t even tell anyone what I wanted for my birthday. We don’t mind a niece or nephew asking us (they should ask not DEMAND) what they want for their birthday or chirstmas. But demanding gifts is something else and my poor SIL (DH’s sister) was the only one who forgot to bring the gift with her so now everyday he’s been asking his mother when his Aunt Lisa is coming over with his birthday present. I don’t know maybe it’s just me who finds this behavior rude. I still think that at age 11 he should be a little more mature…you are not 1,2, or 3 anymore.

Maybe it’s just me…thanks for letting me vent and sorry for this long post.

Re: Need to vent...

I too get very annoyed at kids that dont say thank you, I should say annoyed at the parents who should have taught them and even if the kid forgets it's fine if at least the parents say it...Fh's nieces and nephews are the same way and I often see his brothers SIL telling them to say thank you...thats weird!

I agree the parents should teach them to say thank you, it's just the polite thing to do. I still give a kiss on the cheek to anyone who gives me a gift and of course say thank you as well. It's just the way I was raised.

If I get a card in the mail I call or e-mail the person. I find a way to say thank you for any little thing that anyone gives me.

What annoys me more is the fact that he demands gifts from people. This kid is such a brat sometimes and of couse his little brother is following in his footsteps.

That's a shame they show little to no respect to you and your DH and worse that their son is following suit.

i think you have every right to be upset and disapointed. i think at 11 years old he should have known better. i would just try and forget it though because most people just dont have a clue
