Ok I just need to vent...its not really major and I know that but I'm frustrated and need to get this stuff off my chest...
why is it soooooooo hard to find a beautiful place that my FH and I mutually love were we want to get married...
we LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE Stage 6 at Steiner Studios but its a TON of money and I feel horrible putting that kind of financial strain on my dad
so to be fair i've been looking for a place that i can live with...yeah...there is no place i can live with...FH and I are really bummed about having to look and possibly pick a place that our hearts aren't 100% into...our hearts aren't even 50% into any of the places that would work for us...
i dunno what to dooooooooooooo..planning is supposed to be the happiest most exciting time our a bride's life (most of the time anyway) and for us its just turned into such a struggle and we haven't even really started planning yet!
thanks for letting me vent! i'm sure i'll be doing more of it

omg you're the greatest...see I really LOVE how different Stage 6 looks and the gorgeous city views and all that...our price range...i'd like to spend no more than $120 per person...that doesn't include the service charge and tax
thank you soooo much for helping it means a lot to me...FH and I found some places that were pretty and we liked but sadly they're in CT...which doesn't work at all
my friend's FH knows the manager of Stage 6 so we're hoping that he can get the manager to lower the price per person to something we can live with..but while i wait to hear back from him about that i want to start looking for something else...in case he tells us there's nothing he can do or if he lowers the price but its still too much

Is there any specific features you are looking for, and would you be willing to consider Jersey? I know an 07 bride got married at the Brownstone in New Jersey, and it had the view of the city skyline

jersey doesn't work for us only because almost all of our family and friends are either on LI or in Queens/Brooklyn
my mom was going crazy when I told her I wanted to have it in Brooklyn...so i think telling her i want it in Jersey would REALLY drive her nuts..and i don't think my dad would be for it either..and since he's paying...i'm not gonna argue with him

hmmm
www.GiandoOnTheWater.com
Or the riviera in Brooklyn?
Check on Locations magazine or weddingsitesandservices.com, they usually give price ranges.
Do you want to stay in the Queens/Brooklyn area, or are you also considering Long Island?

I don't know if this is possible, but maybe you can change the date/day/time of the wedding? When we were looking at RHs, certain days and times were cheaper than others (Mon-Thurs obviously the cheapest), Sat afternoon/Sun afternoon were more reasonable. Also, the month played such a large factor (Jan, Feb, & Mar are usually the cheapest months).
I don't know if its an option, but maybe you can look into it!
I'm sorry your having such difficulty...RH searching CAN be stressful, esp. dealing with the $$$ aspect.

I was more than willing to change the time of year to a winter month but my dad wasn't having any part of it...he wants me to keep my date...its already a friday...which helps...i guess i could change the date to monday-thursday...which would mean i would have to make it during a long weekend/holiday

I dont know i this is going to help you...but for October Marina del Ray (which is really nice) is at $140 per head...Im not sure what the guarantee is. I got a magazine in CVS that gave a listing of the catering halls in the city, and long Island. You should get that...It might help a lot...I thought I wanted the city...but when I saw its pricetag, I knew that it wasnt going to be possible...However I did look into Le Cirque. They rent out their space, and they cant accomodate a large affair...maybe that would be an option...Good Luck!!

honestly i would prefer to stay out of the city only because of traffic and the outrageous prices of parking in the city...and again my dad doesn't want me to have the wedding in the city...he's cool with brooklyn and long island

the reason i LOVE Stage 6 is because of the gorgeous views of the city and the Brooklyn Navy Yard as well as the fact that they only do one wedding at a time..being the only wedding at the hall is really important to me but if I find a place that I really like that does more than one wedding at a time I'm willing to compromise

Re: Need to vent a bit
If you like a nice view you can try Chateau La Mer. The windows are huge with a beautiful view of the ocean. They also do a yacht arrival for the bride and groom. I think they have 2 weddings at a time. The Swan Club is beautiful as well. The outdoor gardens are amazing. The rooms have big windows as wel overlooking the gardens. I know the swan club is definatly not one wedding at a time.
HTH!!

have you looked at North Ritz Club? I'm biased, but honestly its gorgeous, one wedding at a time, and i've heard the best things about it...what about the Woodlands? Are you willing to go all the way out east to East Wind (gorgeoussssss) and the venetian Yacht club is great! you should just make appts at all different places and see what you can find!!
