Nervous about something stupid... (LONG and wedding related) UPDATE BOTTOM OF P. 3!
Don't quote, I'm going to delete the details but....
I have to call Lillette's back tomorrow and I'm nervous because I'm a baby.
Basically I'm usually OOT but I'll coming back to NY for my spring break to get some wedding stuff done. I set up my hair/makeup trials for the 15th, and will be picking up my veil from Barrons and I wanted to pop into Lillette's and try on my dress. I've been growing my hair out since August and want to see how my hair looks with the dress (if it's too long, too short, if I like the style, etc) and also the veil.
I called Lillette's last week to set up an appt to come in and try on my dress, and the woman I spoke to on the phone was SO nasty to me. She basically said she couldnt make me an appt because I would just be wasting their time.
I was like...wait, what? She said 'oh you have to understand, we are a busy store and you'd just be wasting our time since you already ordered your dress with us and we need to focus on new customers'... I said I only wanted to slip on one dress which should take 5 minutes, and I didn't need a full appt to try on multiple dresses etc. She said sorry, we cant let you waste our time and if you come in without an appt and we're busy we'll just ask you to leave. (that's why I wanted to make an appt!) I ended up telling the woman I was disgusted by their lack of customer service considering we ordered my dress, 6 BM dresses and my grandma's dress with them, and hung up.
My mom wants me to call back again and ask for the bridal consultant we've been working with... but I'm still kind of frustrated and I'm a little afraid to argue with them again.

That's horrible! I love to go visit my dress. You should be able to do that. I agree with your mom - talk to the person you have a relationship with.

Sorry to hear they were so rude to you!
I used the same store, and like you ordered a whole bunch of dresses there.
Is it your dress or the store sample dress?
I think I remember them telling me that I wouldn't get to try on my dress until my first fitting ... the sample never really fit me, so I never had an urge to go try it on ....

It's the sample dress. My dress was ordered in early Sept but they stalled my order so it wont get in until May.
The sample dress also fit me perfectly at the time I ordered. I've lost about 5 lbs since then, but we ordered 1 size up just in case I gained anything (I have some health issues so it's possible for my weight to fluctuate)

You might have better luck if you try going during the week when they are quieter. It is a madhouse there sometimes on weekends, they get soooooo busy ... I can honestly understand if it was a weekend, they need to focus their attention on girls who haven't ordered yet.
If it was your actual dress, then I'd say you could argue with them that its yours & you want to see it to make sure its right, etc.
Is there another store that has the dress where you could go & pretend that you haven't ordered it yet ... just to get to try it on again?
ETA: I agree with the PP, you may have better luck if you plead with the person who helped you ...

That is really disgusting. I'm sorry you are dealing with that. I would call and ask to speak to your lady. Did you give your name when you originally called? If not, I would ask to speak to your consultant, and not say anything about the previous call. I have a temper, and would have blown up worse than you did -- BUT, I also find my temper gets me in trouble, even when I'm right. So, I'd call as if I were calling for the first time and make an appointment with your lady. Explain the whole situation (oot, veil, etc.) to her. If you did leave your name last time, don't give it this time when you ask to speak to her. Once you have her on the phone, explain everything to her. I think she'll work with you. I hope everything works out!

That is just rediculous! I would call and speak to the person you had been dealing with all along. If that person says the same thing I would call and speak with the owner. That is bad business and really pathetic!

I'm so sorry. That is absolutely DISGUSTING. I hate stores that are only nice to you before they make the sale. I really don't get what the big deal is - most bridal salons will let you 'visit' your dress, provided that you give them advanced notice - which you definitely did.
Unfortunately I'm not surprised. I went into Lillettes with my mil (fmil at the time) to look at MOG dresses, and we were treated horribly. We walked in, and they didn't even acknowledge us - no greeting, eye contact - nothing. When I asked the salesgirl for help, she rolled her eyes and told us that we should look on our own, because she was 'busy' (!!!!!!!!!!) and then proceeded to help customers that had come in after us! Needless to say we walked out and didn't look back! B!tch!

we didnt have the greatest experiences either but they are close to my house, had good prices, and were the only store w/ a sample of my dress.... i'm dreading calling them back tomorrow.

I wish i remembered who i spoke to when I called. dont know if she even gave her name but it was someone older, and wasnt our bridal consultant. (so not one of the random girls that answers phones)
btw -- isnt it 4am in NY right now? it's 3:10am here and i can't sleep.... i accidentally napped from 6:30-9:30pm and then had a cup of tea.... and it was clearly a bad idea

anyhoo.. maybe ask u'r mom to call.. for some reason the maturity in mom's voice sometimes handles issues when we can't. i'd def ask my mom to make the call for me..

It's amazing how these 'businesses' feel that they can do or say anything once they get the sale. I would definitely ask to speak to the manager or owner of the establishment. What you are asking for is not unreasonable. I think that companies in the wedding industry are far too comfortable with their attitudes! Unfortunately once they have your money (which is a considerable amount) brides are too afraid to say anything because they want their dresses on time! That is why this forum is so important--to warn other brides to stay away from these type of businesses!!
